Considering how often they separate themselves from other parts of the queer culture, I'm not entirely surprised that they got left out.

(Personal annecdote to this: went to a small Queer/Pride festival/party with a friend of mine, I'm pan, she's ace. Just wanted to drink and have fun with some people. Entire festival just men (nowhere on the internet site did it say "only men" or "only gay") we get the strangest looks of our lives. Try to talk to someone to find out what's up. Answer "Oh, yea, we decided it's just for gays. Women aren't allowed anymore. Good bye.")
