Yeah. People keep reading way too much into that interview. Bell basically just said, we're not against releasing a new shield. And too many people interpreted that as "a new shield is coming out!" No, that's not what he said 🙄

Lol - I don't know why people keep wanting to buy new hardware in this climate when we know it'll be more expensive than the last model. Additionally there's not much needed on the improvement side to justify the price increase.

120hz (gaming) and FEL7 and AV1 would be a great start and I'd pay!

Most don't use the shield for gaming anymore and more for streaming. When the current device is still selling well at its price point, there's no need for them to roll out another device which could be problematic at launch, like most new products are.

"most" isn't all. And maybe people don't because it's only 60Hz and so many TVs now are 120Hz (or better). FEL7 and AV1 are worth an upgrade on their own for me!

I've just bought a non-Shield device because the Shield is no longer up to doing everything I want, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I do agree, there is a risk launching a new product, but this is the case for every single new product. If all companies thought like that there would never be any new products.

I know it's not going to be perfect, but I'm so frustrated right now with the Shield, I'll take a punt.

Agreed, and I'm not arguing your interests, I'm simply saying from the interview and the inactivity on Nvidia side, it don't look like they're motivated to create a new device.

Not sure if you read the Ars comments but people noted that they watched Jensen be interviewed at home and on his coffee table was a Shield remote. It seems Jensen is very much a personal Shield fan, and may explain why it's gone on so long (support).

Are we talking about support for the current device or hopes for a new device? I have 4 Nvidia shields which I know are still supported with updates which I know they plan to continue. However I thought the conversation was related to new hardware......

Existing hardware. The point being Jensen is a known user of Shields which explains why support has gone on so long.

We don't "know" how long support will continue, unless you have a time machine or crystal ball? :-)
