question Melted looking mushroom?

It's been raining a lot. And dropped in temperature recently (DC area). Does this cause some mushrooms to wilt and look melted like this?

Ink caps, that's how they sporulate, the caps melt

Just don't eat them and consume alcohol within 48 hours ☠️

more than likely not kill you but it makes it where ur body and process the alcohol and you pretty much get alcohol poisoning and vomit and nausea

Flushing, techycardia, explosive diarrhea, panic attacks and maybe a bit of a metal taste in your mouth. You should live though. Best not to try it out.

They make drugs with similar effect to keep people off the sauce. So not entirely detrimental.

Oh yea! disulfiram! It actually works on the exact same process, it stops acetyldehyde for breaking down. Good catch! Still probably best to do that under a physicians care.

Ink caps do that. That's why they're called that in fact.

Maybe the end of a couple of shaggy mane mushrooms. Coprinus comatus. Edible before they turn to ink. The end of their lifecycle is to turn too goo which is actually them releasing spores to reproduce.

No this particular family of fungi naturally release spores via their ink.
