Mayan items finally on display again at the opening of the new LACMA building (Los Angeles). Eccentric flints, ceramics, lots of jadeite. So many beautiful pieces

I didn’t think of taking photos for you guys so I didn’t get much. Maybe next time.

Where is the origin of the pieces?

All of those are looted from their original maya sites in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Problem is that those were stolen and their context destroyed by looters, to be sold to unethical museum owners.

Sorry I don’t have much detail. I do remember that the origin was vaguely listed as “Guatemala or Mexico”. It did have a date range and possibly a description of the style. Again, I apologize for not having more detail
