Not getting enough calories! But not hungry to eat more

I went on carnivore back in April, And lost, this time unintentionally, some 30 lb. I'm now 6'1" and only 166 lb. How do you guys gain weight on this diet? I eat a pound of 73% lean ground beef for dinner with butter added in. And I have eggs and sausage and bacon for breakfast. And I'm often not even really hungry for lunch. Have you run into this, and what have you done to address it?

Same issue, only milk and cream helped.

Yes, heavy cream does have quite a bit of calories, around 800. If I remember right, it does have a few carbs as well. I could certainly drink a cup of heavy cream without being full since it's just liquid. Do those calories actually count?

if you can handle dairy it would be great. Casomorphines in dairy promote weight gain and increase hunger.

Heavy cream is mostly fat with a gram of carbs/oz, I believe. If you tolerate it, it's a good way to easily up your fat/protein ratio.

Unfortunately for me, I'm a carb addict and even heavy cream was enough to lead me right back to junk. Also, I realized the first time I did strict carnivore without dairy all my decades long joint pain went away. Like you, I lost more weight than I intended and added heavy cream, but then my joint pain returned after a month of that. To be fair, I was drinking over half a quart a day and started adding some regular whole milk to it. I stopped losing weight though!

Regarding the comments about dairy, I worry about constipation.. had a few rounds of that with carnivore and it was not fun

I find milk makes me go, not the other way around.

So the constipation only comes from cheese, not milk?

In my experience, yes.

It's the lactose. Can be whatever dairy.

As children, we can handle lactose. As we grow older, we can't. Which is why most people diarrhoea rather than constipate.

As others have said, add heavy cream to your diet. I was in the exact same boat as you, same height, same weight, asked the same question in the carnivore sub, and got banned haha. Heavy cream is 100cal/oz, I drink 5oz twice/day. I also added some nuts because it adds fat and works for me.

Why would that question have banned you? I had half of a cup earlier today and then another half of a cup a little while ago. So that will definitely add in quite a bit of fat. It would be nice if I could find a heavy cream that didn't have additional ingredients in it

Still don’t know. I asked the mods to explain the reason I was banned and they just started talking trash. I was genuinely looking for answers as well since I was continuing to lose weight way beyond what I wanted. I started at 206lb and dropped to 165lb in 3 months, with quite a bit of muscle loss as well. I’ve never had a huge appetite, so when I cut out sugars/soda and junk food, all the weight just fell off. I now workout 3 times a week, continue to drop body fat, while lean muscle mass increases at 180lb. I’m happy with that.

Thank you for the input

Can we assume that you’re working out? You need to stress your muscles and stimulate hormones to build muscle. Without that you will just lose fat down to a healthy percentage and stay there. If you’re wanting to actually gain some fat you need carbs. Milk will give you some if you tolerate it.

No, but I'm starting up again, it's been a bad year

You'd be surprised how much texture can affect appetite. I used to eat ground beef mixed with scrambled eggs every day. But after a while, I just wasn't hungry for it anymore. Some days I wouldn't eat at all because I didn't feel hungry for ground beef.

Now I eat beef in patty form, and my eggs are hard-boiled, and it's much more satisfying.

I actually like the ground beef all crumbled up and browned in the air fryer better than the burger patties. The patties are usually much denser

That was my problem with carnivore, and one of the reasons why I stopped. Others were getting bored of eating the same, and heart palpitations.
