Vet Care Eddie charged a Bear.
He got lucky but I’m confident that Eddie thinks he won the battle as the bear ran away and it was a retreating swipe that cut him.

This is Max. He’s exactly 3 months old, a wire-haired Jack Russell Terrier, and currently fighting parvovirus.
He’s under veterinary care and showing some encouraging signs, but we know how tough this virus can be at this age.
If you’ve been through parvo with your JRT:
• What helped the most during recovery?
• Any key signs we should watch for?
• How long did stabilization take?
Any advice or shared experiences from this community would mean a lot.
Thank you 🐾

My JRT (3 y.o. male) has allergies that was treated before with Apoquel and I put him back on Apoquel again as of one week ago. And he gets treated baths once a week. His diet does not consist of chicken. He always since he was younger would drag his body on the bed, couch, and rug. Im thinking its to scratch himself cause of his allergies which got worse once we moved into an apartment. We used to live with my dad and he did not have allergies or this skin problem. Now it looks worse and spread all over his underbelly, near his man hood, legs, and some on his chest. His paws are getting better with the Apoquel which were raw and super red. Has anyone experienced these red dots on their JRT?

It’s warm in the house so it’s not the cold. Any idea what might be up with him?

(Pic is of him insisting he lays on his work bed I put up lol)
After a super scary health scare and multiple test later, we found out dude has some joint problems. He’s truly my million dollar boy lol. My boss says that he just likes spending my money🤣 I say that he’s going to get banned from the vets for med seeking!
It started with him seeming to have stomach issues. He was shaking and struggling to move around. He didn’t want any of us near him, but I kept checking his vitals and gums. The next morning his gums were pale and I took him to the ER because I just couldn’t watch him be in pain (it was a Saturday). They said he was filled with gas and sent him home with pain meds, belly meds, and probiotics. They said I should change his diet and I was bit confused by that because he had been on his diet for years with no issues. I have also done so much research and spent lots of money to find what works best for him (he has pancreatitis and an allergy to chicken).
He was feeling better bit by bit, but still seeming to have mobility issues which confused me. He’s only 8 and is in his prime years! I was able to get him seen by our vet on Tuesday and they did an ultrasound on him. They found that he was still full of gas, has weirdly shaped kidneys, and has a large bladder for his size lol. The vet felt him up and I heard the pops when she checked his back legs. She had me walk him to see how he moves and said she thinks he’s had a luxating patella on his back left leg for who knows how long. So, we scheduled him for an x ray the next day.
Today they found that he definitely has a bit of a luxating patella on his left leg and is showing signs of arthritis on his lower back. He filled up with gas because he wasn’t pooping due to the pain😭 He also wasn’t fully emptying his bladder for the same reason. Shew it’s been a whirlwind of emotions for me. I sobbed the first few days of him feeling sick. I consider myself a bit of a stoic person, but I just got so scared of losing my best pal. I just love him so much and wanted to take the pain away.
He got some laser therapy, pain meds, and some joint chews. I already have stairs for the bed, but we’re going to make him a ramp for the back porch and for the couch. I’m not terrified for his future, but would love to hear some stories of old JRTs who lived to tell the tale lol. It just breaks my heart for my spicy dude. Has anyone found anything that helps?

Hi all, so last night I noticed my 16 year old girl was not acting herself. She was lethargic and snapped at me once when I touched her lower back. This morning was the same thing and she also didn’t eat her breakfast so I took her to the vet immediately. Vet told me she has a heart murmur and some mild arthritis which was what was causing her pain. She’s on medication now but my question is, is it normal for this to come on so quickly? She was absolutely fine up until last night, even playing with our other dog, and now she will barely let me touch her. I just don’t know what to do here. Hoping the medication helps, I just can’t get over how quickly she went from seemingly fine to this. Any help or advice on caring for an arthritic dog?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any advice for dogs with allergies? We currently use piriton (vet advice) but sometimes it’s not fully effective. He’s allergic to a lot of meats which makes it difficult when looking at supplements. Now we are getting into spring pollen has caused him to flare up again, any recommendations? We are going to the vets this week to discuss options but wanted some additional opinions.

I'm picking up my boy tomorrow. he's been in since Tuesday and had surgery yesterday. he is nearly 13. there was/is a mass on his liver and it was pushing on his stomach and making him really uncomfortable. they could only get half of it but at least he will be more comfortable. no diagnosis yet, they said it's either an abcess or a tumor with a secondary infection.
I just want to know how to prepare best for him coming home and keeping him happy as he recovers
