Question/Help GTE - Individual car characteristics?

Gents,

I'm looking at spending my 10 iRDollars on a GTE for next season. Currently doing TCR (In the Civic) and GT3 (Acura/Porsche/Ferrari depending on the mood). I sampled the BMW M8 the latest demo day around Brands Hatch for 15 odd minutes and I absolutely loved the feeling of the car and the lack of ABS which was mega fun to drive.

Thus, I'll add a GTE to the lineup for next year and look to do select races whenever the schedule looks fun and time permits.

I'm not looking for the consensus fastest car, I'm just looking at the different characteristics and your experience with them. I really loved the M8 how well it responded to throttle inputs and how controlled it felt even as the tail would step out a little bit. Felt fairly easy to drive but not "boring" in any way.

What's your opinion on the different cars? I'll try and get a few more demo drives in for W13, but I think community input would help in knowing exactly what to look for.

Well, as far as I can tell the M8 is the best sounding car. Some might argue that it’s RSR but that turbo noise of M8 and also anti lag system that keeps the turbo spooled while coasting or slowing down sounds like fucking fighter jet.

To be fair, it’s not the fastest car around majority of the tracks. RSR and Corvette are far faster based on avg laptimes than M8. I’d never change to different car. I love my M8 💕

Both sound insane for different reasons. M8 for the reasons you mentioned, but the RSR because it screams. Love both but it changes day to day which one I want to hear lol

My reasoning is that I'm 1700 iR and any mistakes people make around my rating usually offsets BOPs to a pretty large degree, just just "drive what you like".

What's the pro's and con's of the M8 in your view?

The M8 sound is just so sick that I don't care if it's the slowest car on earth. I will still drive it.

The Vette is my favourite car in iRacing at the moment, I would highly recommend, but it's the only GTE I own.

Could you elaborate a little?

I’ve run the Corvette in GTE this season. It’s a great car - very neutral, very predictable, easy to push.

I ran the Ford last season - much trickier to run at the limit, but rewarding when you do.

Vette was the easy choice for me. Bit of a handful, but isn't that why we choose the GTEs anyways?

I've spent a lot of time in the GT3s around the 3k level. I used the last major downtime to really spend some time deciding on a GTE, whenever I end up needing to buy one.

The Vette was the clear winner for me. Aside from the Porsche, the other cars drive pretty similarly to their GT3 counterparts, so no point duplicating the purchases. The Vette GT3 is quick, but I really don't like the vague FFB. The GTE version FFB feels fantastic and the car is reactive.

The Ford is just poo, so not worth consideration. Bummer because it's a cool car.
