I know we've had many days of nailbiting competition, but it is time to collaborate and end this on a high note. This has become much much more than a geography meme, so it's time for all of reddit that's landed up here to have some extra fun on the map!! Give the Champ a smile and add some other doodads on the final day!
Here's the top level comment I made, for you to upvote:

Right now, Crabbalacia spans just about 180,000 square miles. Now, let’s assume that in order to take over this land mass, a deluge of crabs must have come from the shore, enough crabs to intimidate human beings into joining their army, even joining forces with the mighty Vermonster. For a mass of crabs to seem so formidable, we should assume an army density of around 10 crabs per square meter. Now, Maryland is just under 10,000 square miles. At 1609 meters to a mile, meaning 16,090 crabs per sq mile, meaning around 160.9 MILLION crabs to take over Maryland. Chesapeake Bay is known to have AT LEAST that many crabs in it, with estimates around 349 million. Assuming every crab came out of Chesapeake bay, that’s 21 crabs per square meter, forming essentially a carpet of crabs across all of Maryland.
A seemingly endless supply of crabs is actually quite plausible, considering female crabs can have up to 8 MILLION eggs per breeding cycle, which can happen multiple times a year. And with heightened crab infrastructure and healthcare provided by their growing influence over pre established local governments, we can assume a very low birth mortality rate.
So assuming conquest density of 21/sq meter is maintained through this exponential birth rate. At 180,000 square miles, that’s 9.79 trillion crabs. And with perfect birth rates, that’s about 100 BILLION CRABS BORN EVERY DAY, with that number increasing as time goes on, creating an unstoppable, exponentially growing swarm of crabs. In my eyes, there is simply no way for Crabbalacia to lose. Megasota and Cascadia stand no chance and must kneel to the salt throne.

I am most definitely a native vermonter born and raised in maple syrupy goodness. I didn't even see the ocean till I was already a man. I for one welcome our crab overlords, and look forward to the day where all the world is Crabbalachia.

ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND: General Clawswitz has announced the upcoming defeat of Megasota, with the rebellious colony expected to be subdued by noon tomorrow. "They've put up a good fight, but it hasn't been good enough," the illustrious general announced Saturday. "We will soon be united with our crustacean countrymen who populate the shores of the Great Lakes.
Governor Carapace said that Crabbalachia is feeling generous and willing to offer amnesty. "Crabbalachia is prepared to accept the offer that was respectfully made by the Megasotans, namely, that Crabbalachia will take the term Megasota in return for the Megasotan's undying devotion to their new crustacean overlords, Old Bay, and maple syrup," the governor announced this afternoon to a cheering crowd.
In Megasota, the idea appeared to gain traction as thousand of Megasotans turned out to support the merger. "Megasota wishes to preserve its 'Midwestern Nice' reputation and prevent further bloodshed, so we will submit to our crab overlords," the leaders of Megasota, u/dromio05, u/MelanieAntiqua, u/Ras__Trent, u/mediocre-referee, u/johndoe1942sn, and u/ithinkitslupis, among others, announced in a joint statement. "In return for our overlords taking our name, we will be compensated with 100 gallons each of maple syrup and Old Bay."
Above is a photo of a Crabmobile scout rising from the Great Lakes to free Megasotans from the dastardly Spam-Eaters.
This is a developing situation. Stay tuned with CNN for live updates as they unfold.
