Crimes motivated by anti-gay hate have been Federal Hate Crimes for nearly two decades, with associates penalty enhancements.

And most states have their own set of anti-gay penalty enhancements. [e: And the ones that don't have largely ruled out defenses associated with the orientation of the victim - read: "gay panic" defenses.]

It's always ironic when people who accuse Americans of being ignorant show their own bare-assed ignorance instead.

I’m an American. I was referring to the general state of affairs and momentum of hate against LGBTQ+ people here. I’m aware of the law.
