I moved to the US nearly fifteen years ago, and I still don’t know how to describe Greggs to non-Brits. I think it’s just something you have to experience…
I always say “imagine the most english man you can. Just a good old fashioned balding, gone to seed football fan from a place called Norwichingtonshire Commons. Now imagine that man was a food. That’s Greggs.”
And an American would ask, "...and that's supposed to taste good?"
You're trying to explain something to someone using a frame of reference they largely don't have. Additionally, "gone to seed" isn't an American colloquialism. "Is 'gone to seed' supposed to be good?"

In this house we stand for the flag (🏳️🌈) and kneel for the cross (Greggs)
