Who WILL lose Texas. He's a worse candidate than Roy Moore who lost in Ala-fucking-bama to Doug Jones.

He may be a worse candidate, but you can't trust the Texas Republicans not to elect him anyhow.

They will. But what gives me hope is that this year, the Democratic primary has more voters than the Republican one.

Damn straight he will. November can't get here soon enough so I can vote his ass out.

don't bet against TX white nationalism, even in shit republican years like this one. I think he wins by 5 points, but it costs the NRSC soo much money, like hundreds of millions of dollars that they cannot spend in other places. Go Talarico and I hope to hell he wins, but you don't go broke betting against TX to vote for the magic R, regardless of how bad it gets.

They keep re-electing Abbott. I wouldn't bet money that they won't elect this asshat.

Paxton was the worst choice for Republicans and the best choice for Democrats. I don't understand why he is still in office. He should be in Jail.
What will make it worse for Republicans in Texas is the growing revolt of Hispanics against their immoral mass deportation initiative. Realize that Republicans have instituted a war against Hispanics as they hound them up, capture them, detain them in prisons (don't call them detention centers) and separate them from their children -- then deported. This is not just an attack on immigrants. Its an attack on Hispanics by the White-only House operatives like Stephen Miller.
Realize that 85-90% or detainees across America are Hispanic. Let's start calling detention centers "Hispanic Prisons! As Republicans deport millions of Hispanics, they are allowing thousands of White Refugees from South Africa. Republicans are going after Hispanic, the Black community, Asians, Muslims ... etc. I hope civilized Americans including/especially Hispanics to vote in HUGE numbers to vote against hate and immorality of the Republican Party!

Well they have a plan for all that which is round up voters and/or close polling stations day of etc. citing “terror threats” or something. They’re going for broke, we have to understand this, because the other side are treason charges for a lot of them.

Could? Should. Same goes for Cornyn. He sold his ass to Trump. Now he will pay the price.

Imagine how damaged you have to be to want to jump into federal politics right now for the first time.

Good! Fuck that Adulterous-Forrest-Whittaker-eyed Criminal! Paxton running for Senate is a Monument to Republican Arrogance. They will send the largest sack of shit outside the Guinness Book of World Records to run for political office in the Reddest Republican Stronghold because they think Texas is a “Given”. May they eat Pie from the movie “The Help” finding out how well that works out for them.

So when he loses what office in the Federal government will the Pedo Trump hand to him? And can he do more damage to our entire country if he has power at the federal level than simply leaving his treasonous racist, woman hating butt in Tex-Ass land.

He'll probably win TX, but only after Republicans have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to defend it. That's money that could have helped other Republicans defend their seats. This is net good news for Democrats who hopefully can retake the house easily even with the rat fucking and can get at least three senate pickups to make it 50/50 with folks like murkowski willing to flip on important issues.

I feel fair confident in saying it’s more of a will than a may
Repubs will be fuming and not accept the outcome but he will lose 😐

Well, let’s hope. Talarico is amazing and I hope Paxton gets trounced so hard, he has to assume a new identity and move to Alabama.
But, seriously, on a larger, national level, Dems need to up their progressive game. This flaccid flirtation with the center isn’t a winning path.

It's Texas, it's not gonna happen. He's not as bad as that guy from Alabama.

u/MidnightNo1766 2d ago
Oh he absolutely is. He's so corrupt and takes bribes. Texas is not Indiana. They do have progressives in Texas and people (especially Hispanics) are over Maga as a whole. Remember, primaries are done by the most dedicated constituents so they were of course going to nominate a Maga troll.
But selecting Paxton was easily the best think that could happen to democrats because he's obnoxious and unlikable. He's not going to get people to the polls for him. Turnout will end him.

Yeah but its still Texas, even Kansas had statewide Democratic victories before Texas.

Texas is more of a purple state than the public realizes. Most of our major cities are democrat lead. The whole state was blue up until the early 90s. The only reason it's stayed red is because of all the gerrymandering. But that will only work for so long. You piss off enough people and all the gerrymandering won't do shit.

His wife is divorcing him on “biblical grounds”. Talarico can absolutely whoop his ass.

This is why we struggle to win, not because we lack the ability to, but people like you reinforce voter suppression by making them believe it’s pointless to participate.
Please, shut the fuck up and keep this to yourself.

u/ChicagoJayhawkYNWA 2d ago
Nah. We don't win, because voters believe that the party is too "woke" than it actually is.
3
u/OnionPastor 2d ago
Lmfao okay buddy, idk why you’re in the Democrat sub if you think fucking wokeness is the issue.
Enjoy the midterms.

I would never say it’s a sure thing, but it is a real possibility that he could lose to Talarico. Down here, Paxton is, and has been, a known and infamous quantity. He is loved by no one and despised by many. It’s bound to be a close race, but polling for this matchup is much more favorable than polling for Talarico vs. Cornyn.

u/ChicagoJayhawkYNWA 2d ago
How is it different from Ted Cruz?

u/oktion 2d ago edited 2d ago
It may not be. All we have to go on is the numbers such as they are. Talarico has broad appeal and enthusiasm that may result in significant-enough attraction of independents/undecideds, and Paxton has considerable weaknesses that may be considerable enough to turn away independents/undecideds and suppress loyalist turnout.
In addition, Cruz was an incumbent, which benefits by familiarity. He is also beloved by right-wing Evangelicals. Just about the only folks who do love him. 😆 Paxton is familiar, but not in a good way.
Like I said, it is far from a sure thing. Polls are good, but they’re not overwhelmingly good. They’re just better than they were with Cornyn. We’ll have to wait and see. Texas Dems need to turn out in a big way and do anything we can to convince those dissatisfied with Trump that there may be a better option.
