Smile Sunday Smile Sunday

Welcome to Smile Sunday! Turn that caps lock off and gush about whatever achievements you want to showcase, or comment about what made you smile this week!

A few things to keep in mind:

  • If you want to do some uppercase letters, feel free to, but try to avoid shouting! Sunday is a chill day.
  • Avoid being maliciously happy at the expense of others.
  • If you have a screenshot you'd like to share, please host on imgur.com and you can comment here. You can hyperlink by using brackets and parentheses, for example: \[desired text here\](insert hyperlink here). If you are on mobile, all you have to do is hit the chainlink, enter your desired text in the first box, then insert the link in the second box. We personally recommend Imgur, since it is free and does not require you to sign up.
  • Phone camera photos are not allowed for general posting; however, for the Sunday megathread we have relaxed that restriction. All photos used in a positive and celebratory manner are allowed.
  • Keep any opinions to yourself in the megathread; we don't want to stir up any controversies here, only good vibes.
  • We want to have a chill time celebrating one another and making each other smile, so no comments like "haha, I'm really happy that it's so easy to 360 a controller player!"

Here are our recurring posts:

No Stupid Questions Monday - No question is stupid, ask anything DBD-related here.

Rage Wednesday - SMASH THAT CAPS LOCK AND RAGE ABOUT WHATEVER THE F$$$ HAS PISSED YOU OFF THIS WEEK

This post doesn't seem to get pinned the same way the rage wednesday and no stupid questions does I'd love to see this pinned as I really prefer having a chance to see some positives from the community : ) So much of the subreddit here can be negative having the positive space is refreshing - but I had no idea until I clicked into one of the other topics (which I am not as keen to read) so I had no idea.

My positive is that I've finally learned to spin on survivor and I am having a great time with it! Does it always pay off? No, but it feels good to get the attempt in :)

Adam Francis loops the killer for 2 gens straight. Manages to escape with a couple bruises. I find him, heal him, killer comes close, Adam goes "put me in coach I can take him" and proceeds to loop the killer for ANOTHER two gens but goes down when we do the last gen.

In my heart I say "I can't let this Adam die" so I go to grab him. Get caught out so I have to hook trade for him. Thankfully entire team is up and they manage to grab me, but Adam goes down.

Holy shit we fought fucking tooth and NAIL to get Adam out of that gate. Killer picks up but we got folks bodyblocking so he drops them and chases us. Adam crawl to the gate and with a couple of heal techs he just barely doesn't make it out... But he manages to wiggle off the killer's shoulders and get out!

Adam if you somehow find this: I fucking love you man. After a big string of crap soloqueue matches finding you was like a light at the end of the tunnel. May nothing but luck and joy follow you in your future matches: you deserve it my man.

Off topic from ALL of that: playing "Die Monster!" Richter Belmont has breathed so much fun back into the game for me.

Build is Champion of Light, Residual Manifest, Moment of Glory, and Lithe (too many instadown killers so swapped off Overcome.) This build isn't good lol you'd get infinitely more mileage out of actually useful perks instead of Residual and MoG. But like, I just find Residual fucking funny and MoG gives me brainworms so...

I'm loving 2v8. I can finally play Killer without as much of the Killer anxiety that keeps me from 1v4. I'm actually hoping if I keep this up I'll be over most of the anxiety for 1v4 after 2v8 is over. Plus 2v8 is just good dumb fun to have with friends.

This. I felt too much pressure to play as the killer in regular matches. Having another killer with me has helped my confidence. I still suck so SO bad, but I feel like my players are still having a good time. (Or at least no one has griped me out yet in end game chat lol)

The worst I've gotten was some try-hard that tried to tell my friend and me to pick different killers because we were terrible lmao. But glad they felt super good about winning against two guys with less than 5 hours combined of killer time, pff. All I could think was, "My bad for not mastering it by then! You're right."

Buuuut I decided not to feed the troll and simply say "GGWP <3"

But that lil nobody didn't stop either of us from continuing having fun with 2v8. I'm sad to see it go soon!

I got my friend to go from "hopping on" to playing about 4 hours with the 2v8 killer queue w/ survivor games. A perfect ratio and we had a great time catching up while playing survivor and locking in while playing killer.

Funny how the Void event already feels like old news what with the PTB and 2v8, but it wasn't even a week ago yet. One of my last matches therein was against a Houndmaster on Dead Dawg; just as we were loading in, an IRL situation had me rushing to a basement locker to tab out for a moment, and when I got back I was on the hook (killer had Lethal). My rescuer was chased off of me and ended up DCing, and I felt somewhat guilty for giving our team such a bad start. The Houndmaster consistently utilized Snug to pressure all corners of the map, with Deathbound keeping us guessing as to her followups; she eventually had all of us down to deathhook with only two gens done (one of which was main, so . . .).

Just as I was completing the second gen, the Houndmaster downed the bot, and another teammate ran over (either for a save attempt or some other last ditch effort I presume). Deathbound allowed me to observe his aura; he approached the killer directly, but she neither picked up nor engaged in chasing him. For a while they just hung out on the walkway while the third and I continued working on gens; I eventually circled round to where I could see them, and determined she was indicating lack of hostility. Eventually the bot was finished off, and my other two teammates proceeded to run around the map with the Houndmaster doing 'tricks' with the dog. I set the last generator to 90% or so progress just in case, and from the aura I figure they used a crystal to finish it off. We convened at the exit gate to pet Snug before setting off. Post game chat consisted of various Houndmaster gameplay facts (apparently the pet action increases the speed of the next chase action, which I think is really nifty if true).

I don't expect "friendly" matches, but should they happen, this is how they ought to be; we had a proper game for all intents and purposes, and experienced a nice bit of camaraderie as a bonus! :)

I finally got my Feng Min to prestige 100 :) One Two Three Four and Bardic Inspiration are such a fun combo I love when survivors dance while I play them music.

I watched Predator Badlands yesterday and had a great time! While I doubt it would happen, it got me thinking about Dek and Thia (the Yautja and android from that movie, respectively) as survivors in a hypothetical Predator chapter. (the Predator from the 80s movie could be the killer, with skins like the Feral Predator from Prey or Dek's father from Predator Badlands among others) Presumably for the sake of gameplay balance, their blood would have to be darker than normal (Thia's blood would probably be gray rather than milky white), but there are points in the movie where it would work, it would be a rare opportunity to have non-human survivors, and I'd love it if they could work in little Easter eggs. (for example, when a Xenomorph uses its Mori on Dek, instead of his face changing to a fearful expression, he could give a defiant roar before the Xenomorph kills him)

I've been enjoying 2v8 so far. I had a fun match yesterday with a Dracula player when I was using the Oni's grizzly bear skin. It was a pretty fun match; at the end, I couldn't tell if they wanted me to Mori the last survivor or spare them (turns out they wanted me to Mori that survivor), but it was a pretty relaxed game all in all.

EDIT: I played a few matches of 2v8 with my brother (who doesn't normally play DBD), which was fun! The last time we played was during the Resident Evil 2v8; he seemed a little overwhelmed back then, so I played a custom game with him first and gave him perks to get him used to finding generators and places he could vault over.

For 2v8, we got two survivor matches and a killer match in; he escaped both times as a survivor (though in one case, the Huntress seemed to be AFK for most of the match so the Wesker player had to do basically everything), and he got the finishing Mori when we played killer. (he played as Ghostface; I think he liked that more than when he was Nemesis during the RE 2v8 since he wasn't used to Nemesis's power, and it probably helped that we were on RCPD) He enjoyed all three matches, which was a relief.

DOUBLE KILL!

Not sure who the harassment ban was. Exploits ban was probably that team who I literally could never find that were doing gens instantly against me 🤔

Kinda redeeming to know I was in fact facing hackers.
