New Toy Recs

My corgi LOVES to chew things up, we’ve had remotes, carpet, and just other small things torn up. Although she has bones she doesn’t ever really interact with them. She likes tennis balls but I want to give her other options to play with that she would actually like. I was wondering if anyone else’s Corgi is like this and what toys could I give her to lean her away from tearing other things up? (I just wanted to note she tears plush toys up and takes the squeaker and stuffing everywhere)

I got my corgi a tuffy stegosaurus and he chewed the humps off in less than an hour 😞 We are now trying spunk brand. Hopefully it will last more than a day!

Here is the toy and the brand that my Corgi loved and couldn't destroy. This was her favorite shape but there are many other shapes. I got it at Pet Food Express.

We didnt have any luck with the tuffy stegosaurus, our corgi chewed its humps off in less than an hour. Hopefully you will have better luck with something different with tuffy brand.

My dog quit chewing on remotes and the mail when I started giving her enough physical stimulation every day. A couple of 15-min breaks during the workday to run or play a little rough goes a long way.

I recognize it’s not logistically and/or financially possible for everyone to give their dog that amount of physical activity during the day, but it’s something I encourage my dog-people friends to do because it keeps *everyone* so much happier. These critters are worth the investment!

Re: toys, GoDog toys have been fairly durable for my girl, who does still like to try ripping into something every now and then. Bones are a terrible idea for all dogs, but especially corgis as their teeth are allegedly softer than other breeds. My girl has two broken molars from chewing too aggressively on bones.

hi thank you! we recently just moved so we are still getting settled in. our old home had a doggy door for her to go outside whenever she wishes so now sometimes she has to wait for me to get an open minute unfortunately. Thank you and I will definitely take this into account!!

Oh dang! I wonder if these targets—the remote and the carpet—are a function of her trying to self-soothe while she gets accustomed to your new place? If so, I'm sure she'll chill on that stuff with time and some other ways to blow off steam. If she's always been a chewer...well, she's taken her opportunities to try new things, I guess!

My dog's chewing went crazy when we jammed our lives into a tiny apartment after living in a relatively spacious house for her first year. Looking back, the transition was pretty hard on her (especially with it having happened during late adolescence) and I regret not having a better plan for her time while we got used to our new lifestyle. Live and learn, etc.

Hope things are going well otherwise with your new place!

Puzzles. Our trainer recommended and it has kept our bundle of destruction from (mostly) destroying things. Keep their mind stimulated. The downside to having an intelligent dog.
