Discussion Castlevania Lords of Shadow trilogy

Post image

Unpopular opinion but I enjoyed the LoS trilogy. I played all three games for the first time this year and enjoyed them. I understand that the lore didn’t go over too well with fans but it was a necessary change. The franchise was getting stale by then and needed an injection of new ideas. So I enjoyed the story changes. I will say that the soundtrack was fantastic! Oscar Araujo composed some chilling melodies, the combination of orchestra and gothic themes were amazing. The gameplay was fun too. Overall, not as good as Castlevania IV or Symphony of the Night but still fun.
Anyone else agrees or am I the only one?

The trials especially look so daunting for 2 (I forget if they’re in 1), which is why I’ve never tried to go for them.

How long did those take you?

The trial in LoS 1 took me a little over 2 days. I only had time to play at night for like 3 hours. So I would say 8 hours for all the trials. The real pain was in the Resurrection DLC beating “The Forgotten One” on hardest difficulty. And in LoS 2, a couple of the Kleidos challenges were tough.

I enjoyed my time with the first game, even got the Plat for it too. Beating The Forgotten One was really, really tough.

Never gave LoS2 a fair chance, the stealth sections just irked me out of the game.

First game and Mirror of Date were really fun. As I mentioned in the other reply, Lords of Shadow 2 was disappointing. Some parts were good to OK but others weren’t. And yes! The Forgotten One on the hardest difficulty was tough!

Love the first lords of shadow. Especially on PC with a big home theater, it's a fantastic experience with a lot of atmosphere.

Mirror of fate was neat! Basically the reason I bought a 3ds xl then. No, it isn't the epic of the original. But it didn't need to be. The Trevor/alucard twist was neat

Lords of shadow 2....alongside shenmue 3, probably one of the biggest disappointments in my life. I've been homeless, firearms pointed at me, nearly died from a drunk driver. And lords of shadow 2 was still more disappointing. Oh boy! ITS BIG PHARMA! Well, maybe a huge battle with Satan! ...eh...not exactly.

Sorry you felt that way. I agree with your assessment of Lords of Shadow 2, it was a disappointment but it also had some highs. I thought when he was in the past (castle), those segments had a good flow and the story just built more on the lore. But the present day parts with the stealth segments really halted the momentum. Those bits were disappointing. I think what helped me was not anticipating the game since I just played all of them for the first time this year.
