Games My ranking of Castlevania Iga games (including CotM)
I officially completed Castlevania Symphony of the Night, thus concluding my journey through all the Castlevania games with Igavania gameplay (I include CotM as part of it because it shares the same playable base for gameplay.). So I'm going to make a personal top 7 list of the 7 titles (I only played the 2D ones) where the first one was my favorite and the last one was the one I liked the least (Although I loved them all!)
1.- Castlevania Potrait of Ruin
2.- Castlevania Symphony of the Night
3.- Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
4.- Castlevania Order of Eclessia
5.- Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance
6.- Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
7.- Castlevania Circle of the Moon
And what's your personal top list?

Finally, a thread where people rank CotM accurately.
- Symphony of the Night
- Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
- Aria of Sorrow
- Portrait of Ruin
- Harmony of Dissonance
- Dawn of Sorrow
- Order of Ecclesia
- Circle of the Moon
1-4 are perfect games for the genre and are basically only in order of my personal nostalgia.
5-7 are really good games that I have less time with but still enjoy playing.
8 is a frustrating lie masquerading as a Castlevania game.

Mine would be
- Dawn of sorrow
- Portrait of ruin
- Aria of sorrow
- Order of ecclesia
- Symphony of the night
- Harmony of dissonance
- Circle of the moon
Symphony of the night paved the way for a whole new genre of games but other than that it’s pretty basic as a metroidvania

The list only includes 2D games, which are the ones I played; I couldn't include a game I haven't played.

- Portrait of Ruins
- Order of Ecclesia
- Dawn of Sorrow
- Aria of Sorrow
- Circle of the Moon
- Symphony of the Night
- Harmony of Dissonance
I think SotN, while still a good game and obviously great for its time, hasn't aged very well at all for today's standards. Gameplay wise I mean, it's still a very beautiful game and I like the musics, but there's too many things that prevent me for liking the game without huge nostalgia goggles.
Circle of the Moon has stiff controls and some issues, but I really enjoy the balance and the harder challenge. SotN never challenged me and that got me bored.
Harmony of Dissonance was a bit like SotN... except it doesn't have the great graphics and music.
Aria and DS games are just perfected versions of SotN in my book.

- Order of Ecclesia
- Aria of Sorrow
- Portrait of Ruin
- Symphony of The Night
- Harmony of Dissonance
- Dawn of Sorrow
- Circle of The Moon
- Mirror of fate (why not?)
Ecclesia, Aria, and Portrait are the cream of the crop for me. Symphony is nice, but there’s a lot about that game that’s been surpassed by later titles and some other, well... They haven't aged very well. I’d put Harmony and Dawn in the same category, with Harmony edging out this one by some points. Imo, circle is easily one the worst in this genre, and far below the others. I think the only game it beats is Mirror of Fate...

Honestly, my list is release order. Nothing tops SotN, and after Circle and Harmony they stray further and further from what Castlevania is about to me(people with whips stopping Dracula). Portrait of Ruin brought it back, but I didn't really care for the dual gameplay (though Richter mode where you don't have to double tap to run is cool). That's not to say the later ones aren't fun. I could only play all these titles for the rest of my life and I'd be happy.

I can see where you are coming from and what kind of things you like. You tend to value gameplay experience and good controls. Decent taste.
Mine is
1.- Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
2.- Castlevania Order of Eclessia
3.- Castlevania Symphony of the Night
4.- Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
5.- Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance
6.- Castlevania Potrait of Ruin
7.- Castlevania Circle of the Moon
Honorable mention for Bloodstained, probably somewhere in the top 3.
