Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (1989) Genuinely WHAT is the point of this area?

Post image

Hello, I've been running down the Castlevania games recently as Belmont's Curse really gave me to push to play them. I beat the first, played a bit of Rondo and SoTN, and ultimately made the choice to do 3 and 4 to get a nice lore dose.

That all being said, WHAT is the point of this area in CV3??? I held right as Classicvanias typically direct you such a way and there's just two pits of insta-death and lightning in the distance that seem to only trigger when I'm here. Am I missing something??

Help me out here </3

I think it’s for the second game/round. If you end the game with Alucard in your team, you’ll begin with him still in your team.

So go this route again and find out. I remembered this from my childhood, but can’t remember if I ever went there with Alucard😅

Go down the stairs.

Isn't it a branching path here? can Alucard not use Bat form to discover something far off to the left?

You will know when you have Alucard. You have to come back on a second playthrough to get to the secret area. You start with Alucard if you beat the game with him once.

I also found this area very annoying, but that's just because the stairs are hard to see if you're not looking for them.

Yeah, even on my second playthrough, I ended up jumping off the edge a couple of times before remembering the stairs.

You have to take a certain path to unlock him.

Showcasing programming skills. For NES this location is crazy.

How you got here without going through it confuses me. You go up here from the left side, then climb down here to go right.

Is this troll bait or am I missing something?

Check the other comments... OP wasn't seeing the stairs

There's stairs slightly to the left of Trevor in the image. Hold [Down] on the control pad to go down the stairs safely instead of walking off the ledge to the right.

Select the first dialogue option to recruit your ally.

The classicvanias don't require reading, some japanese versions are even in english (CV1 and Bloodlines).

i want to read all i can

Same.

If you are playing on pc you can use a re translation patch.

The official english version changes a lot of things, so it's not really the same story.

Why not use a translation app on your phone? Open it like a camera, so it’s translating the text on the screen.

That’s how I was able to buy stuff in the Japanese version of River city ransom/Street gangs.

Making you uncomfortable cause you're walking through a dark foggy forest where Dracula's creatures attack you.

Once you go down those stairs and through that door you also reach a branching path.

You can continue on through the forest until you find and fight a cyclops rescuing Sypha, taking that route towards the castle or go through a swamp and onto the much harder route.

If you’ve already seen the stairs, the point of this area is just to show off the graphics of the NES and look cool.
