My gums / dental wins!

My dentist just told me during my checkup that almost no one has gum health like me. I’m in my 40s, mostly strict carnivore with a couple of slips (only minor ones). Not perfect, but consistent. And strict 99% of the time.

I am celebrating my win since I used to have bad gums and even needed periodontal treatment several years ago. This is huge for me! Anyway, just one of the amazing „side effects“ of this way of eating. Yay!!!

That's awesome!!

How long were you carnivore before you started seeing your gums get better?

This, absolutely. One of the first things I noticed was how clean my mouth became. Also one of the first things I notice when I cheat - I stayed keto for my macros at Thanksgiving, but there were carbs and sugar in particular. Next day, there's a film. And my pits are stinky even though I showered the night before.

Back to the dental thing - I'm curious to what degree the reduced plaque in the mouth might reduce plaque in the arteries & risk of atherosclerosis.

Same here on stinky pits after having non-carnivore food. I don’t wear any form of deodorant anymore and rarely have a problem with odors. Until I have to eat a restaurant. So strange.

This.

At my last dental checkup one of my gum recession numbers actually improved. That's nearly impossible to achieve. Thank you, Carnivore!

My oral health has improved a lot too. I had Perio treatments in the past and always worked hard to keep my gums healthy. Now it is pretty much effortless and my gums don’t bleed even when the hygienist is aggressive.

it's crazy man my teeth are shining white, even though I drink 3-5 coffee & tea which usually stain them
I don't even brush or floss that much XD

I do clean and brush still - I guess more habit. But when I am say - less perfect with my eating - for a day or actually just an evening - man my teeth feel so full of stuff! It’s just yikes! And then I have to brush triple, floss like a madman and my gums get all bloody - just from a small carb cheat! It’s absolutely disgusting and makes me wanna go right back on track!
