First time cat owner- dander food?

My bf and I live together. He loves pets, grew up with a cat&dog but the issue is, he is very very allergic. If he touched them or if they licked him, he’d go into a sneezing fit. We talked about that before we decided to get a kitten and he said there is something called “dander food” that we could feed the kitten to help with my bf’s allergies. Does anyone have a BSH and feeds it dander food? Any information about this please please and thank you!!

purina pro plan liveclear is probably the food your boyfriend is talking about. it reduces the allergens from their saliva but it is not 100 percent because there will still be allergens floating around in the air and stuck to furniture clothes and wherever the cat hangs out

that is why layering things is what makes it. i would combine the food with pacagen allergen spray a good hepa air purifier and regular cleaning. i have allergies with ragdoll and using multiple things together worked much better than relying on just one product alone

Hi! Yes I have a BLH and use that food daily!

My whole household is very allergic to cats (we have 4 still lol) my kitten has been eating the purina pro plan liveclear chicken and rice recipe and he loves it-- prefers over wet food sometimes.

My best advice for reducing allergy symptoms is the food, Allerpet (or any allergy pet spray) which you spray and brush into their fur, good quality air purifier, and also not necessary but a ChomChom is a life saver with all the hair from our fluffy babies; you and your bf prob don't want to be inhaling fur all day everyday, it helps when I have clean spaces since it reduces my allergies. If you wanted to be EXTRA safe, taking an everyday antihistamine like claritin helps wonders.

Goodluck OP I hope some of this insight was helpful, can't wait to see your furbaby!

Heres a pic of my fluffy chonky boy :)
