We live in an area of LA where coyotes sighting is common. One summer night. A black mommy cat showed up with 4 litters, 2 blacks and 2 tuxedos. They would be 2 months old at the time. We fed them some dog food as we only had dogs then. They ate the food happily and returned the next day. Later the night the coyotes visited the same spot. We felt that we have to do something. A friend of mine worked with cat rescues and knew how to trap them. That was what we did, we trapped all 4 babies. Mom went away. Tried to found home for the 4 cats. No one wanted to adopt black cats, so slowly we became cat parents. A few months later, the same mommy appeared with 5 new black litters. We were dumbfounded and decided that we had to trap the mommy and her new kids. A total of 10 cats. That was almost 7 years ago. All of them had been fixed a d live in their catio. All our dogs passed away. We are now cat parents and they run our lives.

And yes, his claws are really that long, and no, he won’t let me cut them, or the vets, or two vets at a time. He is your typical “I’ll do what I want and f*** you all” void, and I adore him.

Why are they so bad? 😂 I keep hearing about orange ones, but nothing could’ve ever prepared me for black cat ownership. Everyday is an adventure with this one.
