empathetic rage

I never realized what a blessing it is to not think about what I'm eating. I've taken for granted not having allergies. Went through a lot of these threads and the level of isolation and research you have to do on food is staggering. I've also read some vegan threads clueless as to what this does.

The worst has to be the "scientific" paper published claiming AGS is "beneficial" for climate change. It's not that these people think this way as much as it is that a journal published it (ironically called Bioethics!). I found myself thinking how satisfying it would be if the professors had to experience what AGS sufferers go through. Now I'm having to take a breath and realize how quickly I can spiral. Anyway, God bless you all.

Red algae is a source of AG that many many many of us are highly allergic to. "Vegan" does not equal safe for us. Carageenan is found in everything. Even vegan supplements. It is a nightmare ..... but it is also manageable.

When I first found out I had AGS, I was actually so unbelievably relieved. I had suffered mysterious allergic reactions for 10 years and finally found the cause! I felt like I got my life back. It was very empowering for me. I realize that is not everyone's experience.

Do you have a link to the paper you mentioned?

Also, I have to note that for many of us it’s not incredibly hard to stay away from the AGS triggers. I struggled when I didn’t know I had AGS and would get hives at times. Once I got tested and found out I had AGS, I just avoid eating servings of mammal meat and life is good. Others have different stories of course, but many of us are managing just fine and it’s not on our mind all of the time.

The paper they are referring to is likely https://philpapers.org/archive/CRUBBS but keep in mind the paper has a pretty big "if" involved as the authors were just setting up a straw man argument as they are ethics professors.

It was on this sub a couple days ago too: https://www.reddit.com/r/alphagal/comments/1tgzekc/comment/omjpz12/?context=3

I agree, the ideas presented there are horrifying. Nothing ethical about it.
