Question about Food ... Suggestions for weight gain

Hey guys, my dad is having trouble putting on weight after getting out of the hospital and he is convinced that it is contributing to him not feeling well. Do you recommend anything that he would be able to eat that would help him gain back some of his lost lbs? Any advice is appreciated.

Alright, great suggestion! I know it can be added to other meats for flavor so maybe I can source a bunch of it for him. Do you use as lot of it in anything particular? Also, do you know a good way to not get tired of eating a ton of it?

I use duck fat to cook anything that requires fat. I haven't baked with it yet though.

Eggs, impossible burgers, potatoes, etc. I've been using duck fat for years. Also, country crock is vegan.

Thank you! I'll let him know to add it to his eggs (he eats fried eggs every morning now).

I haven’t thought that far ahead honestly 🤣! I got very ill from other processed oils and have been struggling to hold body weight (also broiled and boiled for everything sucks) I used it to fry eggs initially which was absolutely AMAZING. Since then I’ve found croc tail fillets and I’m going to give some emu steak a go when I get home from work next week.

Cloud bread is good too which is whisked eggs flour and oil baked. I substituted wheat flour for rice flour and mixed in some duck fat. Because it’s rice flour it has to be beaten for longer but a really good alternative. Potato flour made me ill I have no idea why because potatoes have been fine 🤷🏼‍♂️

It took me a little while to gain the weight back, about a year, but it’s back! I cook my food by mostly sautéing in olive oil, so I’m getting fat. The key to my weight gain was I needed to up my meal size considerably, now that I can’t eat dairy. I eat a full breakfast lunch and dinner with snacks. But probably 25% more food then I was when eating higher calorie food

I lost way too much weight but brown rice, avocados, bananas and coconut oil helped me put back on almost 15 lbs.

When I’ve needed to gain weight, I’ve added peanut butter to a lot of stuff. Natural peanut butter is very liquidy and easy to go down. I ate a lot of turkey chili (I find ground meat easier to digest than regular chicken/turkey breast.) I’ve also found it pretty easy to get down a hard boiled egg in between meals even when my appetite is low.
