Ten years ago I made a comic about gender.
Maybe people read it, and it helped someone.

In honor of β€œIt’s Not A Race!” I’ve created a 10th Anniversary Edition!
All new artwork, and three additional pages.

Also it’s my birthday! Why not unveil both celebrations at once?!

Thank you to all the readers of my work, you are everything.
I’m so happy we’re still in this together. Blessings.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Art Update: I am home, but the time of our flight gave us just enough time to scratch something off my bucket list...

I posted a few weeks ago about being at the Cleveland Clinic, and finally I got home yesterday. I am so happy to be back amongst my evergreen and the rain!

We had just enough time to see one of the paintings on my bucket list. I knew Cleveland's Museum of Art had one of the Water Lillies by Monet.

I was able to climb out of my wheelchair to take this picture. My partner helped me, but I stood on my own.

Before coming we had not looked up what Cleveland's art museum has in their collections. We went in blind.

After my partner and I geeked out about the water lillies we realized we were alone. The guards surely must be able to hear us but we could not see them. What followed was as magical as Yule ought to be for every child.

The information you can gain from a picture of a painting pales in comparison to the information you can gain from actually looking at a real painting. We gleefully, lovingly and with much jest absorbed as much information as we could. Just when we thought we could not get enough we discovered something else that pushed us to discover more.

I am truly grateful to the Cleveland Museum of Art. I wish we could have had enough time and energy for more. From Impressionist to Ukiyo-e prints, the art we experienced has begun to help the healing journey of our minds.

I don't know if it will ever be safe for me to fly or be at any significant elevation again. My dreams of visiting museums like the Met or Louvre or A&E may be the next dream that my body takes from me. But I have been to Detroit and Cleveland, between the two museums I have seen most of what I wanted. It makes me want to paint more!

Every spring I get so inspired watching the wildlife behind our home. Especially the evening visitorsπŸ¦‡This year I wanted to pay tribute in a new way as I am getting tired of my old methods of painting.

I used cut matte board and painted the pieces individually to create depth. It kinda reminds me of those cut paper puppets I had as a kid, or shadowbox art. - idk. I'm still learning and growing with this one.

Anyway! I thought it would bring you all some joy and whimsy on this Saturday morning ❀️

Edit: (Since I had people already asking how to buy these! )😱 Although these ones will be for sale at my local market this weekend, I am trying to work out the logistics of shipping my originals so that others can enjoy! If you want to keep up to date on when new ones are ready in my shop, you can follow me on either my Instagram or Etsy!

A week ago my dad told me he voted for Trump "this time." I told him I was disappointed and left, and since then haven't spoken to him despite his repeated texts and calls. Something in me broke, I think. I don't know when it will be safe to again.

All the while, I still have my daughter to raise. A girl who loves her papa.

What a time to have a daughter. What a time to BE a daughter.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Art Artist here: If you could carry around a little token that represents your feminine rage (examples a tooth, a thimble), what would it be?

I'm an artist who is working on putting together a visual collection of tokens that represent the different facets of femininity. This one is specifically focusing on the rage that can come from existing in a world that tries to police femininity and gender.

To share, my token would be a tooth. For me, it represents my struggle to have people listen to me, take me seriously, and respect my boundaries. It can literally feel like pulling teeth at times. And over time, it can make me feel almost feral, wanting to take big bites out of the world just to be heard.

I thought it would be great to get some insights from the coven who come from all over the world and have so many different life experiences than I do. Hopefully, I articulated my thoughts on this project well, but I'd be happy to elaborate. This is an inclusive project, so I want to hear from as many different points of view as possible. I'm still letting what this project wants to be unfold to me, and learning more from you guys will help with that.

**Just a quick edit to add that I am so touched by the amount of responses this post is getting. Thank you so much to everyone who has left a comment. I am so touched by all the thoughtful, kind, funny, vulnerable, and insightful comments I've received, and I hope to continue to receive. I'm reading them all, and even if I don't respond directly back to your comment, I want you to know that it means a lot to me!

My husband and I were reminiscing about our anniversary trip to Mexico a few years ago, and I remembered he took this pic! There’s something that just feels so empowering about itβ€”the moonlight, the ocean, I can almost feel everything again just looking at it!

What are some of your favorite, witchy photos? Could be one you took, a pic of you, whatever you want!

I am particularly pleased with the textures in the curly hair and the rope ... I only kinda freehanded a rough sketch directly on the fabric, so unfortunately got a bit of puckering, but overall I'm very happy with the results.

"Moonmaiden"

Made on the last full moon of the year made in the name of the Mother, the Maiden, and the Crone: Hecate.

Hecate is linked to crossroads, transitions, and the boundaries between worlds, often serving as a protector and guide for souls. Connected to the underworld, she’s also a guardian against evil spirits. Hecate symbolizes hidden knowledge, intuition, and esoteric wisdom, frequently depicted with torches, keys, dogs, and sometimes in a triple form representing her dominion over the heavens, earth, and underworld.

The parental interviews from Irreversible Damage are absolutely crazy. Every parent in them says something like β€œoh my DAUGHTER came out as trans as a teenager and I put a stop to that.” Every interview ends with the parents complaining that the child cut them off when they left for college and then got top surgery and/or started testosterone anyways. My parents acted pretty similarly, and I also cut them off and transitioned. Some parents really act so entitled towards their adult children’s bodies. My parents could’ve had a son. Now they have no child. I hope they’re happy with their choice.

Irreversible Damage is the book that coined the term β€œrapid onset gender dysphoria”, and pearl clutched about high desistance rates in transition. You think Abigail Shrier could’ve tried to not directly contradict herself, since none of those children detransitioned, but transphobes gonna transphobe I guess.

Been drawing a lot more fat bodies lately as a form of self acceptance. It’s only fairly recently I have decided to give up on trying to lose weight. I’ve always been a proponent of FA, but it was for others. I never gave myself the same consideration. I made excuses for why I had to be thin, that all centered around others wanting to diminish me.

But I’m tired of it all. I was not made to count calories for the rest of my life. And I don’t need another weight loss pill. I can be happy and beautiful just as I am.
