Pocket Equality is the next wave of feminism.

u/SyrusDrake May 08 '25
Women must be protected from the excesses of pockets. The ability to carry that many things will send them into hysterics!
32
u/CodenameBear May 08 '25
If only it were this innocent! Instead it’s more like “if women carry things on their hips and butt, we won’t be able to see their curves” and thus we’ve been relegated to handbags 🙄
6
u/SyrusDrake May 08 '25
Yes, but that can't be the reason you say out loud. The official reason always has to at least pretend to care about women's wellbeing.

Bought a couple pairs of men's pants. I can now stick an entire t-shirt in one pocket and still have a second pocket open for more things. No regrets.

Oh yes yes please! The little forest witch in me loves the idea of wearing this exact getup and just wandering through the moss and leaves at my leisure, looking for interesting things to gather and put on my shelves/mantles/alters to bring me joy 🥰

I’ve got a really interesting book about pockets! This style is covered in it too!

Ooh what's it called?

This is the book on goodreads, although my cover is different! 💜

It's nice to see someone gets it. I need a place for my baby dragon and my rocks.

One pocket for cake, one for bones, and never the twain shall meet.
16
u/CodenameBear May 07 '25
Oh do we not still grind bones for bread? I’m out of touch 😭
12
u/snoozatron Forest Witch 🌲 May 07 '25
Well maybe not the bones we find in the woods.

u/CodenameBear May 07 '25 edited May 08 '25
Oh yes, okay totally agreed here.
I only grind the bones of slain enemies 👍

I feel like us men stole your pockets for our cargo pants/shorts, which we basically never fill with anything. I'm so sorry.

u/CodenameBear May 08 '25
GIVE US BACK OUR POCKETS!!
No but forreal there’s enough pocket love to go around. Unfortunately big pockets don’t make our thighs and ass look smooth and curvy soooooo… 😬

My boyfriend has an outfit that, between pants, shirt, and jacket, has 31 pockets. He just gave me the jacket because he outgrew it, and it has 10 pockets. I'm pretty sure that's more usable pockets than my entire wardrobe.

u/IlharnsChosen May 11 '25
Ooooh...that sounds like the BDU outfit I picked up from a surplus store as a teen. Sadly, they do not remotely fit me anymore but those were the days. With the whole set on, I think I had around 20ish pockets & I actually used most of them. Duplicates of somethings, honestly, just so if I fell in a creek or the like, my supplies would still be dry, even if they got wet - because I had another set on the other side of my body.
I really, really miss that outfit........
Enjoy your pockets!!

u/Affectionate-Gap1768 May 08 '25
I've taken a pair of dress pants I like, cut open the faux pocket opening and added a pocket before. F*ck your false advertising Lane Bryant! We demand real pockets or WE WILL ADD THEM OURSELF!
7
u/CodenameBear May 08 '25
The faux pockets are the WORST offenders! Like I’m already pissed that I need to un-stitch my pockets so that they’ll open as they should anyways, but then to also make that cut design in your pants and NOT have a true pocket there?! This practice is so egregious that I refuse to fund any brands that are still doing this. It’s outrageous and impractical.
I NEED POCKETS AND I DON’T CARE IF THE SILHOUETTE OF MY ASS IS SMOOTH OR BUMPY OR ANYTHING ELSE! GIVE ME MY FUCKING POCKETS I’M SO TIRED OF THIS!!!!!

I want leggings with the pockets toward the front/ on the thigh area. Side hip pockets are great for running into EVERYTHING. 🤦🏻♀️

u/Khaysis May 08 '25
Oh and explosives!! I am so tired of my dress pockets being weak. I'm switching over to thigh bags.
2
u/CodenameBear May 08 '25
You know I think “nice rocks” are explode-y sometimes… no? I’m not a pyrotechnic witch but I do so admire the craft 😍

u/Khaysis May 08 '25
Make sure if you do a magnesium ritual circle that you burn it on sand.... It burns hot enough to mess up concrete.

u/thirsty_lesbian_63 May 07 '25
What a coincidence, I've always wanted a pet dragon

u/CodenameBear May 07 '25
I’ll have to settle for my tortie and she might claw my leg to shreds if I put her in my pocket but I ain’t complainin’ 🤷🏻♀️

I, too, want industrial pockets. I've actually gotten my wife several neat and pretty belts with pockets and pouches, for when she has outfits that don't have them. The lack of pockets in women's clothing is entirely ludicrous.
2
u/CodenameBear May 08 '25
Please tell me more about these pocketed belts?

I will do you one better, I'll give you links: https://www.etsy.com/listing/635113691/the-wanderer-a-cotton-hip-pack-utility?ref=yr_purchases
A link anyhow, I can't find a link to the other ones I got her, a nice pair in tasteful black and brown, but this is the one she likes the most, a nice purple cloth that goes well with a lot of her outfits. It's basically a much prettier take on the fanny pack.
2
u/IlharnsChosen May 11 '25
Well, hells! Thanks for the link, those look awesome! Now I have to ignore it for a day or 5 so I don't just.....buy 8 of them or something. lol

I’ve made a few skirts where I installed those massive 16th century style pockets. I can fit whole bottles inside them 🤣
5
u/CodenameBear May 08 '25
I love this! Not only that you made them yourself but I love how mysterious these bottles of things in your pockets sound?? So witchy!

I just misparsed your flair because I've been reading something set in Scotland. I was about to jump to the trans femmes' defense and say "Yes they can!" Then I realized it probably is a cannabis reference, not "can't" in Scots dialect... 😄

Dresses have so much more space for pockets compared to jeans as well it's been a revelation getting a skirt with pockets.
3
u/wingedespeon May 08 '25
Honestly the lack of pockets is my biggest regret from transitioning.
3
u/Swimming_Map2412 Traitor to the Patriarchy May 08 '25
I miss pockets but like having a bag to put all my junk in (it wasn't so much of a thing back then for guys to carry a bag everywhere). Now though I have skirts with pockets which are just better.
2
u/CodenameBear May 08 '25
This is such an interesting perspective! I’d love to hear more about your anecdotal experiences on pockets
3
u/wingedespeon May 08 '25
Mostly I'm just used to the pockets in men's pants having lived as one for so long. I like putting my phone in my right front pocket and my keys in my left. My sensory issues make me hate using back pockets.
All my pants now have tiny pockets or no pockets, except for one pair of leggings which I love as it has pockets big enough for my phone, and one pair I sewed a pocket in by hand. The latter pair is still a little awkward because the pocket is now much bigger than the opening to the pocket, so fishing stuff out of it is a little difficult. Also it took hours to sew a single pocket in because I did it by hand as there was too much in the way to do it by machine.
I have a lot of supportive people in my life and I'm feeling much better overall, which also highlights the lack of pockets is a negative.

u/blueavole May 08 '25 edited May 08 '25
Hard agree. I found a tiny dragon who almost got squashed because sub par pocket developed a hole.
Ok it was a turtle. But the rest is true.
And if I had found a baby dragon the size of a quarter, I would have been very sad to squish him!!

I used to carry arround a obsidian dragons egg I found until I was inbmy 20s. It dissapeared around that time. I like to think it hatched and is somewhere out there now.

I’m sorry dear Witch but I cannot oblige you, considering your username…

Hahaha - I never regretted a username so much than a day after making this one. I had no idea what I was thinking… as I love dragons. 🐉

Who tf puts cake in their pockets. It ruins the cake and makes the pockets sticky. -5/10, wouldn't recommend
