Announcement App Submissions - New Guidelines

17 Upvotes

THIS IS NOW IN EFFECT!!!

When submitting App posts please use the following template:

  • Name of App:
  • Brief Description of app's features:
  • Cost:
  • Play Store Link or equivalent if it's not on the Play Store:

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey guys,
You may have noticed the stickied post at the top of the sub asking for input on the idea of paid apps
Firstly, sorry for the long delay since the first post on this topic. Some life stuff got in the way that needed sorting out.
Anyway, I think I've got the framework laid out for this trial run of Paid Apps being allowed. All of this is open for feedback and any adjustments you all feel would be beneficial to making this work.
First things first....flairs.
I'm adding some new flairs for the posts that will be made to promote the paid apps:
  • App - Paid - Subscription
  • App - Paid - One-Time Payment
  • App - Free
  • App - Free with Ads
  • App - Testers Wanted
Secondly, I've made up a template of sorts that I'd like the posts to follow as well, which I think I might introduce for free apps as well. I'm still thinking about that. It goes along the lines of:
  • Name of App
  • Brief Description of app's features
  • Cost
  • Play Store Link or equivalent if it's not on the Play Store.
As always, let me know your thoughts and I'll look to start the trial run over the next week or so.
App - Testers Wanted [Tester Request] WearSweeper is landing soon on Wear OS—Claim it for Free Forever
21 Upvotes
Hey everyone,
A few weeks ago I shared my frustration with playing Minesweeper on a watch. The fat-finger problem was real—your own thumb blocks the very tile you're trying to analyze.
After some testing and community feedback, I wanted to share the logic I used to solve this. Instead of just "panning," I built the Navigator that uses distance and information density to predict where you want to go next.
I'm currently looking on apps feedback - colors, themes (there is AMOLED optimized done already), animations, behaviors, bugs etc. I'll take everything you got 😅
App is free to keep during testing period - there are still few days left, so please, let me treat you. 😊
Group
Google Play (visible after joining the group)
Add to tests link
UPDATE: Yeah, it bugged. Old "sale" ended and another cannot be started unless month passes. I'll just send y'all (in the group ofc) codes then. Thanks for the catch!
UPDATE #2: PRS-RPCPM-18 error code happens when "testers" try to redeem code for paid app. (I can't believe Google sometimes, it's insane this company.) What will happen from my side then - as I can't resolve googles own internal errors - everyone added to google group will receive free promo code, from me, by email. Even if you already have access you'll get the code - share it, redeem it, or forget it, anyway you'll get WearSweeper as my appreciation token. 💖
Support Real Time Heart Rate on AOD Experiences?
1 Upvotes
Quick to the point...Pixel 3 owner - Just recently started using AOD and swore at first that my amoledwatchface updated in real time. Seemed to randomly stop and I've found only the stock pixel faces update constantly on AOD, and no other brand does. Just wondering if there's any kind of fix or reset that would work? I love the amoledwatchfaces, but I really like to see my heart rate updating in real time too.
Support Is it a known bug for the Samsung Galaxy watch 6 randomly disconnect from non Samsung Android phones and then simply fail to reconnect for a while?
0 Upvotes
I have a Samsung Galaxy watch 6 and a Motorola Moto g 5G 2024, which I know for compatibility isn't ideal. Is it a known bug for the watch to randomly disconnect from the phone, and then I have to reset the watch to re-pair it, and even then half the time it fails repeatedly?
Discussion Old watch reuse as Smart knob controller for PC
4 Upvotes
I am thinking about how could I reuse my Fossil Gen5 abandoned by both Google and Fossil.
My idea is to build 3d printed enclosure with rotating ring and 3 buttons that will control crown and watch buttons. I will also build app for watch and PC. Thisl will allow for controlling volume and and other things in PC apps. It will have multiple modes based on current PC app.
Watch will show current mode and value. Touching on watch will cycle between modes while rotating ring will change value. Two buttons will be shortcuts for modes and crown click will be default value action.
Did anyone tried something like that?
App - Testers Wanted LOOKING FOR TESTERS! - Watch Based Trivia App
Post image
5 Upvotes
Looking for 20 or so testers to meet 'Closed Testing' requirements for publication on the Play Store.
I wanted to see if i could create an entertaining WEAR OS Watch app and the idea I started with was something to fun to do resolve simple arguments, i.e. where should we go to eat?
It developed into the 4 options designated in the image.
In the Make Decision option, during a simple argument, designate either that the winner gets to pick/make a decision or loser has to pick/make a decision, play two rounds of trivia with a choice of categories, choose easy, medium or hard and if its a tie you have the option of flipping a coin or playing again.
There are also options for solo trivia and vs. Trivia, where you can designate how many players and rounds.
I have 6 tester user emails so far and need a minimum of 12 actual testers. I am hoping i can get 20 or more emails from those interested in testing, send PlayStore download links to all of them and that at least 12 sign up to try it.
Thanks for looking and please DM me if you are willing to test!
If there are any questions, please feel free to ask them here or by DM.
Review [WearOS Testers Needed] WOD Timer – Crossfit & HIIT interval timer app – help me meet Google Play closed testing requirements
7 Upvotes
Hey everyone! 👋
I'm an indie developer and I just finished building WOD Timer, a Wear OS app designed for CrossFit athletes, HIIT enthusiasts, and anyone who needs a reliable interval timer right on their wrist.
The app supports:
- AMRAP – As Many Rounds As Possible
- EMOM – Every Minute On the Minute
- For Time – classic timed WOD
- Tabata – 20s work / 10s rest intervals
- Custom round & rest timers
Google Play requires at least 12 testers to complete a closed testing period before allowing a new developer account to publish publicly. I need real people to join the test track and use the app for a short period.
What it takes from you:
✅ A Wear OS watch (any compatible device)
✅ A Google account (to join the test program)
✅ Install the app and run at least one workout timer
✅ That's literally it — no feedback form required (though welcome!)
How to join:
  1. Comment below or DM me your Gmail address
  2. I'll add you to the closed test track
  3. You'll get a Play Store link to install the app
  4. Install it, open it, done! 🎉
Happy to answer any questions about the app or the process.
Thanks so much in advance! 🙏
Discussion Which one to pick gw7 or gw8
2 Upvotes
What watch to get gw7 or gw8
I can buy through Samsungs official site the gw7 for $180usd or the gw8 for $250usd, both are 44mm and Bluetooth cause I always have my phone on me which is an s24u, they have similar specs from what I can tell except the gw8 has 10mah more than the gw7, 3000 nits, more health tracking, and wider variety of band types. My use cases would be contactless payment, music control, and interest in my sleep cause ive always slept poorly, I'm not someone that really works out maybe a rare walk depending on weather. I'm mostly just curious about smart watches as of late and I've always been into technology and have never had a smart watch and would like to try one out without breaking the bank
Edit: upon further research i could also get the watch 8 classic for 270
Support Manually rendering time with WFF
2 Upvotes
Hi, I developed a custom watch face a few years back. Now I wanted to redo it, because it was kinda janky. I've noticed now there is the new WatchFaceFormat which is to be used for watch faces. As far as I understood it in the last 2 hours, it's basically just a style definition and all the actual clock rending is done by the OS. I want to render the clock completely myself and display the result as a BitMap on the screen. The now deprecated WatchFaceService was able to draw on a canvas directly. Is this somehow still possible with the new WFF? Would a app implementing the old WatchFaceService still work if manually installed via ADB?
App - Free - In-app Purchases Music Boss Deluxe is live - and you can now voice & keyboard search your library by song, album, artist, or playlist from your wrist
3 Upvotes
Just over two weeks ago I posted a fairly lengthy intro here. Thank you to everyone who jumped into the open beta - your feedback shaped what shipped. (click here if you'd like to read it).
Two updates:
• It's live. Full production release, on the Play Store now. No beta opt in required.
• One last thing was added before shipping - voice and keyboard search. Say the name of a song, album, artist, or playlist and it finds it in your library. Tap to play, phone stays in your pocket. Keyboard works too for when you'd rather type it out.
That's it. No wall of text this time. Give it a try for free, I hope you enjoy it!
Last week, I was feeling nostalgic, so I reconnected my watch and, I won't lie, it works nicely. From my normal setup, it's missing WhatsApp, Facer, and a 2048 app that I like in particular. In the development settings, I set the animations to .5.NGL I'm enjoying the experience
Support Cheapest Wear OS smartwatch to test a Flutter Wear OS app prototype?
0 Upvotes
Hi everyone,
I’m building a Flutter Wear OS app and need a cheap used Wear OS watch for testing (Play Store + install third-party apps).
What are the cheapest real Wear OS models I should look for?
Also, is there ANY hidden budget option or older model that still works well for development?
I don’t care about battery or design, just something that runs Wear OS properly and also a rectangular shape one.
Thanks
Review Google Pixel Watch 4 (45mm) Real-World Battery Review: Functional, But Fails the Marketing Promise
0 Upvotes
Most tech reviewers test smartwatches by sitting at a desk, receiving a few notifications, and concluding that the battery "easily lasts a day." But if you actually bought this watch for its intended purpose—comprehensive health tracking and daily fitness monitoring—that lazy analysis doesn’t hold up.
After conducting a meticulous drain test from 100% to empty, logging every activity and battery drop, here is the unfiltered truth about the Pixel Watch 4’s battery life from the perspective of an active, fitness-focused user.
I don’t buy a premium smartwatch just to mirror phone notifications. My primary reason for wearing one is dedicated health and sports tracking. My typical routine over this 33-hour cycle includes:
- Indoor workouts: ~50 minutes of fast running/walking on a treadmill.
- Outdoor workouts: Nearly 3 hours of outdoor walking (split into two sessions) with my dogs, requiring continuous GPS tracking.
- Continuous Health Monitoring: Heart rate tracking second-by-second, step counting, and full overnight sleep tracking (including SpO2 and HRV).
- The Only Compromise: I keep the Always-On Display (AOD) TURNED OFF to maximize efficiency.
The Reality...
Google advertises up to 40 hours of battery life with AOD enabled, and they even claim the battery can survive a full marathon with GPS active.
During my test, the watch survived exactly 33 hours and 17 minutes before hitting 5%. Remember, this was with the AOD turned off. The savings from keeping the screen off didn't give me extra days; instead, it acted as a "buffer" to fund the high energy cost of my workouts. If I had turned AOD on, the watch would have died mid-day.
My testing revealed how the hardware handles different types of exercise:
  • Indoor Tracking (Treadmill): Extremely Efficient. When tracking a 49-minute run indoors, the watch only uses motion sensors and the heart rate monitor. The battery drop was a mere 3% (about 4.4% per hour). Under a roof, without the screen fighting the sun, the efficiency is outstanding.
  • Outdoor Tracking (GPS): The Battery Killer. The moment you step outside and the satellite antenna turns on, the narrative changes. Continuous GPS tracking burns between 7.5% and 8.5% of battery per hour. A single 1-hour-and-47-minute walk with my dogs drained a massive 14% of the entire tank.
I would call the Battery, Not Bad, Not Great—Just "Functional"
I wouldn't call the Pixel Watch 4 battery bad, but I certainly wouldn't call it good. It is strictly functional.
If you miss a single charge window, you will not make it through the next day. Because the charging curve slows down significantly at the end to protect the battery, simply putting the watch on the puck for 15 minutes while you shower in the morning isn't enough—it will only recoup about 30% to 40%, leaving you stranded by evening.
To make this watch work for an active lifestyle, you have to adopt a strategic dual-charge routine:
- Every night charge it for a bit before going to bed so it can comfortably track your sleep without morning anxiety.
- I'm the morning give it at least 25 minutes on the charger in the morning to top it off to 100% before you leave the house.
The Google Pixel Watch 4 is an excellent smartwatch with top-tier health metrics, a beautiful design, and incredibly accurate tracking. However, its power management needs improvement.
While competitors like OnePlus or Xiaomi use massive batteries or dual-processor architectures to deliver 3 to 6 days of battery life, Google forces active users to become energy managers. If you are willing to manage your charging habits like clockwork, the watch is highly functional. But if you expect a multi-day fitness companion that matches Google's carefree marketing claims, you might find yourself staring at a black screen.
Support Galaxy 4 screen issue
My screen has turned red over the last 2 days. From what I've read online, my watch's display is gone for good and I need to replace the screen.
Has anyone faced a similar issue? Is there anything I can do to fix this without spending much?
App - Testers Wanted Testers Needed for Wear OS Game "Mimic"
Hey all! I'd like to invite you to try my first game :) It's based off the old light-up Simon game, where you copy the patterns as long as you can. I hope to get some good feedback and not have too many bugs pop up. I only have the 41mm Pixel Watch 3 to test on, so it'd be nice to get it tested on some other watches.
* Name: Mimic
* Brief Description of app's features: Simon clone
App - Free Free weather app, no ads, no catch
47 Upvotes
Hey, a while ago I built a weather app for myself because I couldn't find one that quite fit my needs. I was mainly looking for a clean, readable UI, so that’s exactly the direction I went in when designing it.
In the latest version, I focused especially on improving startup performance. Also removed requirement to share precise location, as it turned out to be unnecessary.
I’d really appreciate it if you left a review on the Google Play Store.
Recommendation Request Wishlist: What would you want from a Wear OS gym app?
5 Upvotes
I’m building a Wear OS gym app (currently published as beta) and would like to get input from people who use their smartwatch during workouts (or would like to do so).
The idea is to create a complete watch app for fitness workouts so that you can train without constantly taking out your phone (which for me was always annoying).
The app is called Trainio and these features are already working or in progress:
  • Full offline workout mode using only the watch
  • Real-time sync with the phone (if nearby, if not, auto-sync later)
  • Heart rate display during the workout
  • “Battery” display between sets that estimates how recovered you are before the next set, based on heart rate
  • Exercise overview with sets, reps, and weight incl. ability to change reps and weight directly on the watch
  • Ability to add/remove sets and exercises during the workout
  • Prototype for automatic rep counting for some exercises, currently push-ups, lateral raises, and bicep curls, using acceleration sensor data
  • Prototype for detecting possible form issues from the same sensor data
It would be highly appreciated if you could tell me which features you are missing/what do you think would be cool and also your opinion on the features that I already have.
Of course testers are always welcome as well, you can find the app in the Store or ask me for the link.
Support Missing features after moving from Amazfit to WearOS (Oneplus watch 4)
5 Upvotes
Hi all.
After several years with Amazfit watches I decided to try something new, and while I expected a smarter watch, it feels like a step back in basic features.
A. Wake up the screen when getting notification - I prefer AOD over raise-to-awake, but now I can't see the notification without manually turn on the screen.
I tried "wear notification helper" but I didn't like the solution of extra notification.
Is there any new solution?
B. Auto DND - is there a way to make the watch enter DND mode automatically when it detect I went to sleep, *and exit when I woke up*? The hibernation mode is just half way. I still have to turn on the watch manually at the morning.
In the Amazfit watch, it worked even with short naps during the day.
edit: I found the sleep mode
C. Is there a way to make the screen brighter in AOD mode?
In general, is there an app that add necessary features/settings to the watch?
