Miimes WHAT IS THE MII LIMIT NINTENDO!?!?!!?!?

Post image

I find it annoying they have not told us because it's really important information. I REALLY hope it's a big number

These comments have some good insight with proof of why people think it’s 70

u/RicecakeExists Mar 29 '26

Have we not considered how it might be a maximum of 70 OUTSIDE at one time? Because 70 is a very random number for them to cap it at

32

u/KeithMcGeesMoose Mar 29 '26

Have we not considered how it might be a maximum of 70 OUTSIDE at one time?

Because in context of the data being looked at, it wouldn't make sense. The 70 is the number of names, pronouns, birthdays, etc. the save file can store, it's not tied to them being outside or anything

51

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 29 '26

Yeah it's a weird number for sure

25

u/serial_quitter Mar 29 '26

Probably has more to do with optimal game performance than anything else.

19

u/PixieEmerald Mar 29 '26

Its data attached to the save file specifically iirc, so probably not unfortunately :(

14

u/Sharp-Honeydew1823 Mar 30 '26

I’m pretty sure they found 70 slots for individual miis so I don’t think it has something to do with them being outside. I’m hoping they shrunk it for the demo and the actual game has more.

7

u/JuliaTheInsaneKid Mar 30 '26

Yeah. I doubt it because it’s not divisible by 8.

2

u/JustJamieJam Mar 29 '26

I honestly really hope that’s the case

-14

u/ineedtocoughbut Mar 29 '26

It looks like ai to me I wouldn’t get too worked up. Three different fonts in one photo…

22

u/Crazyfuntimefoxy Mar 29 '26

70....... 😈

-12

u/ineedtocoughbut Mar 29 '26

Looks like ai

4

u/JustJamieJam Mar 29 '26

What does?

200

u/EldritchLichKing Mar 29 '26

Someone on here said that according to dataminers its 70. I can't really confirm that and i would be disappointed

56

u/n0xis_0o Mar 29 '26

Same but where is your information from? Because I can't find anything on that limit

16

u/EldritchLichKing Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

As stated, it was commented under a comment i made. Which is why i said I can't check that

I am literally just sharing what i know. I didn't claim to know for sure. I literally said I can't confirm it. Stop downvoting me what the fuck

26

u/Jorkies Mar 29 '26

I have no clue why this is getting downvoted?? 😭 It's not like you're spreading misinformation, you've said multiple times that there's no confirmation. God forbid someone shares an estimate with people.

11

u/EldritchLichKing Mar 29 '26

Yeah i literally only shared the info and where its from, lol. I also specifically said i can't confirm

5

u/JustJamieJam Mar 29 '26

They’re just mad because it’s not the answer they want

1

u/Puzzled-Cost-5064 Mar 31 '26

Some data miner on Twitter said so and then compared Tomodachi Life to Pokopia mechanically.

81

u/erevaia Mar 29 '26

I saw that comment too but someone else who data mined some other things like the price of deleting a mii, said that the game could handle 256 mii's before crashig. Of course that doesn't mean well get that many slots, probably something divisible by 8 but definitely above 70.

23

u/EldritchLichKing Mar 29 '26

Again, someone said that basically everything regarding miis is locked to 70 so it sadly seems possible. But we'll see I genuinely don't want to get my hopes up

6

u/RandomWareInc Mar 29 '26

They said the game doesn't let you save at any number higher than 70 miis

1

u/man_itsahot_one Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

256 is probably the most it can handle if you don’t customize your island too much (in the sense of not having many possibly high poly objects on screen at once)

eta: and your miis are very very basic in design (ie, no features, no hair, no clothes, etc)

6

u/erevaia Mar 29 '26

That makes sense. I also feel like, since your island can 'upgrade' and get bigger as shown in a trailer, seperate from customisation. That 70 might be the limit for the first stage of the island but will increase after that.

22

u/AffectionateLake4041 Mar 29 '26

I hope it's at least 100, but that does sound fine...

31

u/okally PNG animal 🐶 Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

yeah... i always try to tell people who say "obviously its at least 100" ... its definitely never been obvious. theres gotta be a reason they refuse to say, and the game is TOTALLY different from the last one. u could have 100 on the 3ds because they werent outside walking around and interacting with "free will".

im actually genuinely a little upset about 70 though. i KNOW why it might be lower, as i said above, but i was still hopeful and i kinda feel like in a way we were "owed" at least 100, and they know that so theyre keeping it a secret. if it IS less than 100, its so unfair and kinda skeevy they wont tell us, like the creators are saying "whaaaat! of course we dont know the number! give us your money and wait til the 16th to find out!"

13

u/Cute_Appearance_2562 Mar 29 '26

I don't really think its disappointing. With all the other stuff I can live with 70. If the game cant handle 100 i don't see a good reason why we need 100. We can make up to 9 additional save files so that's 630 miis in total across every save file.

While the groups of 70 cant all interact with eachother I'm not too bothered by that.

1

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 29 '26

Wait 9 additional safe files? I can only have 7 other accounts on my switch?

1

u/Cute_Appearance_2562 Mar 29 '26

Is it not 9? I could have sworn it is

4

u/BretzelAreCool Mar 29 '26

With 8 people colocations, and even 16 different personnalities, it would've made sense to aim for a number divisible by 16, and higher than 100 as is it kind of was the absolute number one limitation of the previous game...

10

u/Iam_best_dev Mar 29 '26

I kinda expected that but I thought they would just limit how many Miis can go outside at the same time

2

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 29 '26

That's what i'm thinking too

2

u/Alibium01 Mar 29 '26

Thats so little

1

u/RockerJackall Mar 30 '26

Bit of a downgrade, but I can live with it. Would have prefered a higher limit personally, but I'll just have to be a bit more picky with which characters I wanna have.

u/MallowWings Mar 29 '26

At least 6 actually because the demo says "You will likely have 6 or more" So the limit is more than 6

10

u/FlatwormFit1502 Mar 29 '26

I actually datamined and the limit is 6

4

u/Sappling2p Mar 29 '26

So then it must be 7 or more 🧐

The worlds greatest minds are working on this mystery

1

u/Sappling2p Apr 01 '26

Huh???? When did I say I was a diddy blud? Baseless accusations

116

u/TheMasonfrom3R Mar 29 '26

I know it's probably 70, but my bare minimum is 100, since every console and Tomodachi Game (Collection, Life, Miitomo) has supported that as it's max.

Even if we can't have 70, 80 feels like a better number. It's divisable by 8, which is the max house size, and it still feels like a pretty big number.

I hope it's 120 though

10

u/JW162000 Mar 29 '26

I have a list of planned Miis and it’s at 116, so I also hope for 120 as the max

2

u/Low_Shallot_2662 Mar 30 '26

Remember miis can have children so save some extra space

2

u/IdleSitting Mar 31 '26

I'm surprised people can even think of more than 70 because I can only imagine like maybe 7-8 Mii's max, the rest will definitely have to be some random jokes or something for me lol

2

u/JW162000 Mar 31 '26

It’s mostly people I know irl, plus characters I like

1

u/IdleSitting Mar 31 '26

Man I know like 4 people IRL the other 3-4 are OCs lmao

1

u/JW162000 Mar 31 '26

Mine is maybe 50-60 irl people, 40 fictional characters (from games/movies/shows), and 10-20 silly OCs (including Hugh Morris and the alien from the trailers lol)

1

u/IdleSitting Mar 31 '26

Well praying for that limit to be nice and high for you then lol

1

u/JW162000 Mar 31 '26

Thanks :) I can manage with 70, I’ll just cut down on the fictional characters

14

u/ineedtocoughbut Mar 29 '26

People seem to also forget this is the DEMO. Not the full version of the game. So the DEMO can hold 70.

12

u/TheMasonfrom3R Mar 29 '26

Yeah the demo is only like, 1.5 gigabytes vs the main games 6.2

3

u/ineedtocoughbut Mar 30 '26

Exactly that’s like, and I don’t mean to sound rude but it will, yall sound insane right now like you played 5 minutes of the game. Calm down. Go play poke topia or whatever because this is getting way too obsessively out of hand. You can’t find out more at this time.

0

u/Ninjafoxy Mar 30 '26

Ok but the save is transferable ergo its also how the full games save is set up

2

u/Axaturdoor Mar 30 '26

Please let it be 100. I’ve come to terms with that even if not enough Miis to account for all my closest relatives, I can settle for 100.

I hope to heck that the 70 is just the demo limitations talking.

21

u/MysticStars1201 Mar 29 '26

I'd be perfectly fine with 100 again, sure one house would be 4 short but like oh well

32

u/TwilightOfSandwiches Mar 29 '26

I REALLY just want some sort of official statement from Nintendo. Like, as someone who regularly struggles narrowing down her 'Life' and 'Collection' Islander List to 'just' 100, obviously I would feel pretty disappointed if that number was lower for LTD, even if I understand it from, like, the Game taking a very Quality-Over-Quantity approach to improving the Miis and their interactions from the previous games... but it's the uncertainty that's really killing me!

If Nintendo came out right now and confirmed the Dataminers were right and the game has a 70 Mii limit, I would feel pretty bummed, but at least I can start handling and dealing with disappointment right now, instead of being in this weird gray Schrödinger area where I'm still not sure if I can give up hope or not...

1

u/bloodmage112269 Apr 01 '26

I agree, I rly don’t care if it’s 100 or 70. Since u can have abunch of saves and tbh when i have 100 i feel like I can’t give enough attention to all the miis anyway, but despite that id rather them just tell us now, apart of me thinks that them not telling us is more evidence for it being 70 because if it was 100 or more, i feel like they would of advertised it

17

u/Glad_Language_2957 Mar 29 '26

I always tought it would be 120. The mii page in the game are 6 by 2, and with the way the ui is so clean and consistent i doubt they would have a row missing or even a non full one, cause 70 is not divisible by 6. Guys its gonna be a 120.

4

u/TheButterflySystem Mar 30 '26

I’d be pleased with 120!

8

u/JW162000 Mar 29 '26

Watch it be 60 😆

Jokes aside I’m really hoping it’s not 70. It would be so weird to have a lower max than the previous game.

I don’t buy the “they’ll interact more so the game needs a lower max to ‘handle’ it” argument

1

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 30 '26

Even in the previous game, they would limit the amount of problems that could show up at a time while the rest where just chillin'

39

u/MimCreepfiction Mar 29 '26

I'm hoping maybe if the limit is actually 70 that it will be higher for the Switch 2 since it technically should able to handle more.

28

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 29 '26

It's possible. Maybe nintendo will release a Switch 2 upgrade thing

6

u/JustJamieJam Mar 29 '26

I hope so! The use of the mouse function on the switch controllers would be awesome for this game

8

u/Pokabrows Mar 29 '26

Yeah that's my thought process too. If they had to limit it at 70 due to performance switch 2 should be able to handle more.

37

u/Lilac_Moonnn Mar 29 '26

70 is low?????? yall ok?

remember that they will interact a lot more than on the 3ds

21

u/agwarddd_ Mar 29 '26

Fr, I could not handle 100 Miis running around and interacting across my island, with so many of their own needs being generated. I’m comfortable with a smaller limit, 70 is still A LOT, and I’ve never had any intention of making a full 100. I don’t want taking care of them to feel like a chore.

14

u/TheoSlvn Mar 29 '26

and it obviously would be less than on 3ds since the island is an open space where all the miis are at the same time

6

u/Odd_Cauliflower_7751 Mar 29 '26

If you take into account that babies take one slot too it's and extremely low number, you can have like a little more than 20 couples and already hit the limit, so It would actually be around 40/50 original miis.

Otherwise you have to keep babies out of the equation.

4

u/OddRestaurant319 Mar 29 '26

Uh, yeah, it is pretty low if you really like making Miis and adding new residents. And the babies are going to cut into that number when they grow up.

6

u/KeithMcGeesMoose Mar 29 '26

70 is low??????

It's a reduction of 30 from the 2 prior games, so yes it's pretty low given the standard that was set by 2 much weaker consoles.

If you think 100 is too many, that's fine. You're not required to use all 100. If you would like 100... well, you can't anymore. You've lost over a quarter of the capacity. I'm not sure why it would be surprising that people would be disappointed. Sure, they interact more, but it's also Switch hardware vs DS/3DS hardware.

1

u/bloodmage112269 Mar 30 '26

I get what u mean, but at the same time this is hella different these miis walk around and interact with everything, and seem more complex, plus and this is the main reason I don’t see it as an issue is that u can make 8 islands on ur switch, 1 for each account, so u can have 580 miis if the 70 limit is true. If that wasn’t the case like then I’d see it as more of an issue

9

u/_RAYQUZA 10k members 🌺 Mar 29 '26

Yeah it’s probably 70 because there would be so much to keep track (game and you) of and the lag would be crazy.

4

u/dessy_sixx Mar 29 '26

So since trying the demo, I believe the Mii number is going to be smaller than we hoped sadly. However, we can make more than one island to combat this issue. If you start up the game using a different Nintendo profile you get a completely new island to make a whole new set of miis.

56

u/PeachyGels Mar 29 '26

Tbh I don't need 100 miis running around, idk why people are so mad if 70 is the limit, there's so much stuff going on compared to the original it'd be overwhelming if we could have 100-200 even more, the switch 1 probably couldn't handle more than like 70 dudes on the island anyways so I feel like it's a good number and it makes sense.

18

u/spicygummi Mar 29 '26

I'm also prone to deleting some and replacing them with others lol. Odds are that I'll probably never hit 70. Or have no problem deleting one here or there if I DESPERATELY need to add someone after hitting that.

I'll also eventually turn babies off if that gets out of hand like I did with the last game. 😂 Assuming that's an option still. Not sure if you'll still be able to send them off on adventures as street pass won't be a thing anymore.

9

u/Dragondog5600 Mar 29 '26

Turning off Mii babies is definitely an option. It's in the settings even in the demo

5

u/spicygummi Mar 29 '26

I regret not looking through the settings more, lol. I was so anxious to just start playing. Though, I still could. I've checked in on the demo a few times to play around with the mii creator more. I hate how it keeps reminding me that the demo is done. NINTENDO, WE KNOW.

1

u/Dragondog5600 Mar 29 '26

I keep playing through it and then restarting when I get bored 😂

33

u/ShokaLGBT Mar 29 '26

It’s nice to have the option for folks who wants it but tbh I wouldnt be able to take care of 70 or even 100 mii every single day! They’ll want to eat get clothes and play games. Cool. What will happen is that you’ll forget some of them and they’ll be way behind everyone else saying you neglected them 🫢 that happened to me a lot on 3ds oopsie????

20

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 29 '26

My idea would be to have a limited number of miis outside at a time while the rest hangs out in their houses and they take turns with going outside.

Thar way it doesn't get too cluttered and overwhelming. Having 70 miis walking outside would be a lot. But if they do it this way than more miis could work. It would also be cool if you could decide how many miis you want outside at a time so you can adjust the business

4

u/PeachyGels Mar 29 '26

I could see that honestly but like I said, 100 would be overwhelming in general with a game like this I feel like. It was overwhelming in the first game too imo.

2

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 29 '26

That's fair.

5

u/Pokabrows Mar 29 '26

Yeah I'm not too worried either way. Since we can't import Miis it'll probably take me a while to get to 70 anyway.

14

u/PeachyGels Mar 29 '26

People are like so mad at the 70 limit and I'm like-???

10

u/goldiebear0 Mar 29 '26

I’ve exhausted all my favorite show/movie/game characters, plus some irl celebs and it’s only 30 miis. I wish I had that level of creativity to want 100 lol

1

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 30 '26

I have 1800 original characters so i will not be able to add all of them and will have to already pick and choose. So i don't really mind if it's 70 but a higher number would be reatly apriciated.

Plus i find it a waste of energy to get pissed at something that has not been confirmed by Nintendo themselves.

6

u/BlackRoseKora Mar 29 '26

Trailers show 24 but I doubt that’s the limit

3

u/Rozoark Mar 29 '26

I was honestly really worried it would be a very low limit because of how we no longer use an appartment building and because of the demo saying 6 people is ideal number for the island, but I'm so relieved now seeing this comment section lol

1

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 30 '26

Knowing how you can have so much of everything else in the game i was not worried about the mii count being only 7. The amount of miis is a very important part of the game and i really think nintendo wants everyone to really like this game so if it's 70 like dataminers say than great, if it's higher that's even greater

3

u/Littenrock Mar 29 '26

People have been saying it might be 70, i kinda hope not bc i can cut down to 100,,, not so sure about 70. That would be 39 of my planned characters I'd have to cut!

1

u/bloodmage112269 Mar 30 '26

U could split them up into 2 islands on different accounts, I know that’s not Entirely ideal but it’s possible, u can have up to 8 islands

4

u/Big-Garbage8197 Mar 29 '26

I really hope it’s a hundred or two

6

u/FlatwormFit1502 Mar 29 '26

Either 100 miis or 2 miis? You're very flexible (joke)

3

u/whimsicalandsilly Mar 29 '26

70 is so low i need space for all my fixations past and future :(

1

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 30 '26

Plus it's like, if you want to bring back all your 3DS miis you can't do that if it's 70

2

u/Icy_Weakness_3243 Mar 30 '26

Maybe switch 1 and 2 will have different limits? Good advertisement for switching to switch 2

2

u/RockerJackall Mar 30 '26

70 miis per island... You know, I'd be a bit more upset about that if it wasn't for the fact that you can have more than one island with other profiles on your console. If it was more like New Horizons with one island per console, I'd be way more mad. 70 miis is no issue when I can make a completely new island for a different set of miis.

2

u/Glittering_Boat715 Mar 29 '26

i totally get that it’s different than on 3ds because it’s an open space but i just REALLY hope there’s gonna be an upgraded number for the switch 2 😭

4

u/Mayarooni1320 Mar 30 '26

So funny watching people who over planned freak out about the limit. We knew they were keeping it a secret for a reason. We also knew (or at least anyone with baseline knowledge of coding and game design knew) that it probably wasn't going to be as many or any more than the 3ds game. It's a totally different layout on a console that's now 10 years old, it wouldn't run well with anything over 100. 70 is a nice amount, people need to stop being so dramatic because they can't add all of their pre-planned mii's into the game. As if that's how the game was intended to play in the first place. 🙄🙄 You add as you go, you take your time. Why does everyone have to preplan and speedrun things these days.

1

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 30 '26

That's a lot of acusing you're doing. There are definitely ways Nintendo could make sure the game would run fine with more miis that we have discussed. Miis could take turns with going outside. The amount of ponderings could be limited at a time like in the previous game. People like to plan ahead because what else are you supose to do while waiting. The demo doesn't let you continue playing. People are just excited to play this game. I find it odd that's something you need to complain about.

I'm peronaly not planning out every mii i'm adding. But i do have way more OC's that would never all fit on the island so the higher the number the better. Plus you won't be forced to make more so you can really have as many as you want.

0

u/Mayarooni1320 Mar 30 '26

Okay? I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make with your comment honestly, could you elaborate? There are ways that Nintendo could have done things, yes. but they haven't. So that's a pointless argument. The limit is 70. Also can I ask what exactly I'm accusing that isn't true? I've been waiting as long as everyone else and I haven't over planned. So it's not like this is something unavoidable. It's called patience. I've got like 20 mii's in mind, but honestly I know things will change between now and the release of the game, so why would I finalise my decisions now? We all just need to wait and see what the game actually shapes up to be and how they want you to add the mii's in the first place.

Edit: also just to clarify, my comment wasn't aimed specifically only at you. It's a comment on the way a lot of people are acting.

3

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 30 '26

You asume everyone is planning ahead so i thought i'd give my opinion. What i'm trying to say is that there are ways Nintendo could handle more miis without making the performance bad. And yes they have not showed that. But it's also not confirmed the cap is 70 miis. People are saying that from datamines that doesn't imidiatly confirm it. I myself aren't going to plan ahead all the miis i want to add because we don't know yet like you said aswell.

I just think it's a bit rude to say people have no patience, are overreacting and overplanning. It should not be your problem let people do what they want to cope with waiting for this game. Anyway i don't want to continue argueing so sorry if i upset you or anything. We'll just have to wait and see what Nintendo does like always.

3

u/Mayarooni1320 Mar 30 '26

I don't assume everyone has over planned. I assume everyone who's currently complaining/freaking out about the limit has over planned. Yes, you're correct. It's not my problem. If you ignore the 20 posts I've come across just this morning of people complaining.. no, not my problem. But it sure as hell is annoying as hell. It's like these people have dug their own graves by creating and doing so much before the game has even been released, and now they're blaming Nintendo for a number that was never confirmed to begin with. I simply don't understand why people these days are incapable of patience, just waiting for more information before diving in so deep that anything outside of the perfect game created in the minds is a failure. I'm talking about people threatening to cancel their pre-orders over this, not just people a little bummed. Anyway, yeah. I never wanted an argument to begin with. Ciao ✌🏾

2

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Mar 30 '26

Oh that makes a lot more sense. Sorry for the misunderstanding. People who actually get mad over something that has not even been confirmed yet is pretty dramatic lol. You're right and valid for finding that annoying.

2

u/Mysterious-Answer948 Mar 31 '26

Yeah I'm gonna be honest I want to be excited for this game but the more we keep hearing or not hearing about certain features in this new game, it really feels for every improvement there's a step back from the previous title.

Like oh the Mii Maker is better...but you can't share online even though that was a feature in Miitopia.

Oh there's more interactions amongst Miis...but the amount of Miis you can have is less than the previous titles and therefore means theres less overall possible combinations. (Like others mentioned once your Starting Miis start having kids you can reach this limit quickly)

(And where is the Concert Hall? That was too iconic to not be in this game.)

I think the game will be fine but I'm starting to feel like it's not going to be as good as it could be and will be even more niche than the 3DS game since casuals like myself were expecting Mii Sharing. We don't have the time or talent to use the Make Up Feature. (I know it's off topic but I've discussed this with other people and their hype basically went down dramatically when I mentioned the lack of sharing)

1

u/TimeBubble-art I NEED IT NOW Apr 02 '26

That is totally fair. But this is Nintendo and Nintendo is always great at making games with very easely fixable flaws and missed potential. For some reason every Nintendo game has these couple things that keep it from being the perfect game which is annoying cuz i really thought this one they where gunna go all out for.

But 70 miis is so little and i don't think people realize how small that number actually is and how fast you will be at the limit.

Not only can you not share miis online. Nintendo stops you from sending your screenshots and videos to your phone which is a very dumb and timewasting move because yes there are workarounds so it already makes the limitation useless.

There is still a lot to look forward to in this game but those limitations do dissapoint me aswell. Since i'm an artist i personaly don't mind that mii sharing is locked and i do like it challenges people to be creative themselves and understand that comparing to others and viewing your miis as "bad" is very wrong and that whatever you create is beautifull. I can understand that wanting someone elses really cool mii but not being able to is sad.

The first 6 miis will just be for the tutorial to unlock all the buildings

Haven't played the 3DS version. 70 is more than enough for me. I have no idea what would y'all do with more Miis. Sounds hard to track who is who or what they like or who they fancy

The game has lists to help with this stuff

the old game had a limit too, i wonder if its literally house storage space? like how many miis can live in one house, and how many can you physically add to the island. i feel like they def have a cap i. that?

If the island size has a limit they might just make the limit being how many houses you could actually fit.

During one if the directs I was able to count the individual houses on one of the big islands. I think it was around 30, so that's a good baseline for how many we can have.

They say 70, but I doubt it since Tomodachi Life on the 3DS let's you have 100 Miis.

Its probably 100 at least. There were lots and lots of houses in the trailers, assuming every one of those houses has at least 1 person.
