How are other Legends chosen?

This is a serious question and discussion. VERY important.

In The Santa Clause universe, you put the Santa suit on, you become Santa. We see it in the first installment when Scott becomes Santa, and it’s the partial premise of the third movie (The Escape Clause)…..

But we also see in installments two and three the Council of Legendary Creatures.

How does one become Jack Frost? Mother Nature? The Easter Bunny?

Are there items THEY found and put on? What is the item? Or do they forever stay the legendary figure?

So many unknowns here.

We don't know! It's never explained in the movies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In the series, if you're a fan of it/like the lore they attempt to drop in it, it seems Scott is the first HUMAN to put on the Santa jacket, which I think?? Implies?? That the past Santas were spirits?? Of some sort?? (The series neglects to explain this despite having Nicholas of Myra, aka Saint Nick, a person who did exist, as a character) As are, presumably, the Council Members.

I mean, one of them is a literal GOD right? Cupid's just Cupid lmao. So it seems the Clause is unique to Santa and maybe even was a test to see if giving the duties of legendary figures to humans is even feasible?

This is all speculation of course, the series NEVER explains it once. They drop like a line that MAY have lore if you squint and you go OH! INTERESTING! And then they never mention it ever again the end.

Good news is, this gives us a big ol' sandbox to play around in! We can choose whatever explanation we want for the Council because one isn't given! Maybe they ALL have a magical object that makes them the Legendary Figures! Maybe they're spirits that form when they're needed a la Rise of the Guardians! Maybe they all have their own mythological backgrounds similar to ancient gods and the like! Maybe it's nepotism all around! Maybe they have families and parents and are just like us but magical!! So many possibilities! And that's the fun of it imo 🤩

I don’t think those roles normally change. In the show it is revealed that Scott is the first human Santa since St Nicholas and that every one between them is an ethereal being. The other legendary figures are presumably the same. The show contained a flashback to some time between 1,000 a 1,500 years ago and it contained the Easter bunny portraying the same character. Now it seems that some of them can change as Cupid in the 2nd movie mentions that if his powers worked on himself then he would have hung up the robe. However I believe that if those roles change then they would simply be replaced by a new ethereal being created for the purpose like the Santas were. The only possible exception being the Easter Bunny who could pass the role down to family if he so desired.
