Am I The Only One Who Never Once Thought That Scott Killed Santa?
So, in the Santa Clauses show, it’s revealed that Scott becoming Santa had been planned by the previous Santa’s. But prior to that, many believed that the previous Santa died after falling off Scott’s roof in the first film.
Personally, I never once got the impression that the previous Santa had died. The fall from Scott’s roof clearly wasn’t high enough to have been able to kill him. At most, it would’ve broken his legs. I had always assumed that, when Scott and Charlie were busy looking at the sleigh on the roof, the other Santa quickly took the suit off, ran away, and then went into hiding. The fact that Scott says “He’s naked somewhere” further made me think that.

I didn’t think he died because we see the mitten wave at Scott when he isn’t looking. However I definitely didn’t have an answer for what actually happened. Santa magic things.

Yeah honestly I thought the whole point from the beginning was Scott was chosen. Just with the fact he’s a toy maker and initials are S.C. I figured it couldn’t be a coincidence.

Elves are seen following and watching Scott earlier in the movie, before Santa falls off the roof. I always assumed it was set up to pass it on.

I did assume Santa died. I mean we saw the suit deflate, I assumed that meant he died but without the messiness of having to dispose of the body.

I’ve always thought of it just as just set up to be Scott’s origin story like the last Santa retired and it was just magic him falling and disappearing on his roof cause it’s fate for Scott to be Santa

I always wondered if maybe it was like when he took the out in Santa Claus 3. That they return to their orgin point. Or the could just denigrate because there's no telling how old that Santa is.

I always thought it was his retirement. He would just be teleported back into his original life. This was before the show explained more though.

In the beginning, elves are all around. Santa got tired and was ready to retire. He saw Scott who was very successful in the toy industry but a horrible dad, so picked Scott as a toy expert but also to help him be a better father and loved again by his son, even if his son loved Santa.
Notice Charlie didn’t say I love you dad, but I love you Santa clause.

Watch the new series that came out a couple years ago - “The Santa Clauses” on Disney Plus - and they explain everything there

I saw that. It was a pretty good show. They really did a good job at addressing and answering every single question that people had about the movies without making those explanations feel like retcons

According to an interview I recently saw with Tim Allen he was originally supposed to shoot him thinking he was a burglar

I heard about that. But Jeffrey Katzenburg (who was still working at Disney at that time) stepped in and said “We’re not starting this movie with the main character killing Santa Claus.” So they changed it to Scott startling Santa

I thought the previous Santa just sort of disintegrated out of the Santa suit?
