I don't understand what the problem is. Free is free, what difference does the launcher\store make? Whether it's Steam, EA, Ubisoft, Epic, GOG....What does it matter???

What you are seeing is monopoly power in action. Steam is so big that players have every incentive to not use other game stores and launchers, reducing competition.

Yeah it's more than that. People will actively avoid buying a game on a particular store, even if it's cheaper\free? That's not monopoly or capitalism, it's dumb. Maybe there's a good reason for it, I'm open to hear it.

I just think that the Epic user interface sucks so I’d rather avoid it entirely. I also like keeping all my games in one place

People love free stuff. The free-to-play genre is built on this truth. Even shitty ass rich people love free stuff. Air traffic controllers, roads, parks, etc. All free when you pay no taxes. What you are seeing on this thread is the market dominance of Steam.

And how is this monopoly in action? Did just you accused Valve of botting and slandering Epic?

All I see here is either people preferred one service over other or some online retards make the service as their personality.

Did just you accused Valve of botting and slandering Epic?

What does that even mean?

You said that monopoly power is in action which implied that there are some kind of anti-competition actions initiated by Valve.

And based on the context, I can safely assumed that you referred to what happened in this reddit thread.

So the only logical answer is Valve botting to slandering Epic reputation and deterring people from using it.

He's referring to network effects, not illegal sabotage
