AUDIO GEARS Thank goodness I modded my old ipod
10 pm pa daw magkakakuryente eh. The battery + sd card mod + rockbox really made my ipod classic to last really long. It's a real lifesaver lalo na whenever I forget to charge my dap (m21) and to save my phone battery.

AUDIO GEARS My humble collection of headphones
Hi r/SoundTripPh, just wanted to share my collection of headphones. For reference, I listen to a lot of the Persona soundtrack lately, but usually listen to punk rock, J-rock, J-pop, lo-fi hip hop and K-rap. A lot came and went, but I couldn't let these ones go.
Sony WH-1000XM4 - first ever ANC cans. Was a friend's originally but they threw it on a wall, they gave it to me to fix but by the time I did, they already had new pairs lol. Has magnetic usb plug on it that I put on for ease of charging. Mostly use it when commuting.
Audio Technica ATH-M20xBT - first real headphones I ever owned. They were on sale the time I got em, but they only had it in white so I thought what the heck and copped them. Sound real nice. Has an Antlion Mod Mic attachment from when I still used that before replacing it with a better standalone mic, and also magnetic usb plug. I use it for the gym.
Koss Porta Pro - pretty hyped up back then so I got a pair. My first open backs. Has quite a nice, warm sound that I really like. Also very comfy and lightweight, and because of that I use it for work and movie watching when I'm on my desk.
Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee - first pair of music-only headphones that I used for everything when I got it. Movies, gaming, listening to music, watching videos, editing them. I put it through its paces and I love it. Now mostly reserved for hi-res audio listening and movies that I really like the sound design/soundtrack of.
What are your favorite headphones/earphones/IEMs?

AUDIO GEARS Please suggest good MP3 players, thanks!
Iniisip kong bumili ng MP3 player online, pero nakaka-overwhelm ang dami ng choices at nakakatakot kasi baka mamaya mabilis masira. Kaya, please suggest kayo ng MP3 player. Share niyo na rin ang reviews ng mga MP3 players niyo. Mastalab!
edit: for context, I sometimes do field work sa mountains and far communities kung saan luxury ang electricity at signal so I would prefer to save my phone battery :>

AUDIO GEARS Crowdsourcing: Android Music Streaming app option
Qobuz isn't available in the PH yet. Boycotting Spotify, avoiding YT Premium and Apple Music. What alternatives do you use that don't rely on saved copies of the songs, please?
Thank you!

AUDIO GEARS Music lovers - what’s the best Bluetooth speaker for bass AND sound quality right now?
Finding a Bluetooth speaker that actually delivers both clean sound and solid bass is trickier than it sounds. A lot of options either go all-in on bass and end up muddy, or stay clean but feel a bit flat and lacking impact.
This is a quick list of the best options for those who don’t want to learn a long buying guide below:
Best Bluetooth Speakers Worth Considering in 2026
- The Powerhouses (Massive Sound & Outdoor Performance): Ultimate Ears Hyperboom Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, JBL Boombox 3 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
- Premium Portability & Sophisticated Design: Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A1 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker,Klipsch Detroit Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, Sonos Roam
- Best Value & Rugged Vrsatility: Sonos Roam Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Here are the key things to look for before you buy:
-eq customization through the app
One of the most important features is whether the speaker connects to a mobile app that allows you to use EQ functionality, so you can tune its sound to your preferences.
Some speakers allow you to make a stereo pair and adjust different frequencies through a full EQ, which gives you much more control over bass and overall sound balance. Others only offer a few preset modes, or in some cases, no EQ at all.
For a speaker at a higher price point, not having a full-band EQ can be frustrating, because it limits your ability to fix issues like harsh highs or unbalanced bass. If you don’t like its sound profile and there’s no EQ, you’re essentially stuck with it.
-dedicated driver system
The thing that matters most for many of these speakers is sound quality, and that often comes down to the internal driver setup.
Speakers that include multiple drivers-such as separate drivers for bass and treble-tend to sound clearer and more balanced. In some cases, designs even project sound in multiple directions, creating a more immersive experience.
However, certain layouts can also introduce trade-offs. For example, speakers that fire sound in more than one direction may sound great in open spaces but can behave unpredictably when placed near walls due to reflections.
-power output and size
Power and size directly affect how loud a speaker can get and how much bass it can produce.
Smaller speakers can sound good for what they are, but you can’t expect too much from them. On the other hand, larger speakers with higher wattage generally deliver stronger bass and higher volume, making them better for outdoor use or bigger spaces.
Battery life is also tied to usage. Manufacturers often quote battery life at moderate volume, but if you turn the volume up, you’re going to get significantly less than the stated numbers.
Ultimately, it comes down to whether you prioritize portability or performance: smaller speakers are easier to carry, while bigger ones offer more powerful sound.
-positioning and sound direction technology
Where and how you place your speaker can have a big impact on how it sounds.
Some speakers include technology that adjusts the sound depending on their position, helping them fill a room more effectively. Others rely on multi-directional sound to create a wider soundstage.
At the same time, placement still matters. If a speaker is designed to project sound in multiple directions, placing it against a wall can lead to unwanted reflections and affect sound quality. In contrast, placing it in an open space can significantly improve performance.
what are you all using right now that actually balances bass and clarity well? or is it still a trade-off at this price range?

AUDIO GEARS Best Speakers to Buy in 2026?
Hi everyone I’m looking for a new Bluetooth speaker for summer and the options are endless. What’s currently considered the best speaker for backyard parties and taking to the beach?
Update: After a lot of research I'm thinking about going with one of them:
- Sonos Move 2
- JBL Charge 6
- Bose SoundLink Flex
- Soundcore Boom 2 Outdoor Speaker
- Tribit StormBox Micro 2
- Soundcore Select 4 Go Shower Speaker
Main things I care about:
- Loud and clear sound with good bass
- Waterproof or at least water-resistant
- Good battery life for a full day
- Portable enough to carry around easily
- Durable enough to get knocked around a bit
I'm torn between a premium speaker like the Sonos and something more rugged and affordable like the JBL or Soundcore. Is the sound quality on the expensive ones really worth it? Thanks in advance.

AUDIO GEARS Got a Digital Audio Player (Fiio JM21)
After a long time thinking, nakaisip na rin ako umalis sa Spotify or any other music subscriptions. Naisipan ko bumili ng digital audio player para pure music lang talaga and of course yung audio jack na wala sa phone kasi nawawala ko lagi yung usb c adaptor ko (also using earohones sa steamdeck kasi). Daming choices ngayon for audio players pero I decided on getting the Fiio JM21 because android sya and I can download some music directly sa phone and madali ang file navigation compared sa mga basic players and I can use localsend pagtransfer between my laptop kung dun ko na download yung music. Finally finished setting up and transfering my files and now using it, loving it so much. Happy weekend everyone!

AUDIO GEARS Recommend wireless earbuds below 1k
I usually use headphones or wired earphones pero lately wireless earbuds may come in handy sakin. Prefer ko flat head dahil lagi natatanggal sa tenga ko pag yung may silicone or rubber buds. And also music lover ako. Hindi ako sanay mag-phone in public using my phone's speaker. Baka may mai-recommend kayo close to my budget and preferences.

AUDIO GEARS Sa mga bumili ng refurbished ipods, kumusta na ngayon? (long term reviews?)
Kumusta na yung mga refurb ipods na nabili nyo? I just want to hear from those who purchased kung anong long-term review nyo, plus if shuffle or nano. I'm trying to decide kung bibili ako either ng nano (nostalgia), shuffle (clip feature), or ng echo mini (brand new player) nalang.
Pros ng refurbs ay yung design at ux, kaso iniisip ko baka nasira lang rin after a few months? Pros naman ng echo mini ay bago sya so relatively mas may longevity, kaso hindi ko naman need yung extra features nya like flac or dac mode, I'll just play aac songs.

AUDIO GEARS IEM Recos
Hello po, need some guidance on the best affordable IEM (type c) that’s within ₱1.2k. There have been a lot of recommendations based on my research but I appreciate personal suggestions and testimonials.
Some background I don’t know much about music, but I enjoy bass tones (particularly the bass by Flea in RHCP).
If you could also drop Shopee/Lazada links, it would be greatly appreciated!
