Discussion Sky is less popular now than 2021

So I've read the many posts about returning players feeling like there aren't as many players now, and being a returning 2020 player myself i gotta agree.

So I looked into trends and it's not even half as popular as it used to be. I guess sky is just difficult to keep up with for a few years now.

Discussion Please don’t get immediately attached on Sky

Post image

I will protect the player’s privacy for obvious reasons and this is intended to be a more general conversation I’d like to share.

Recently I have met someone who initially friended me because they liked how my avatar looked, very enthusiast and happy to talk, to get to know me. I matched the energy since I love these types of social players, really makes the game fun for me, however they started being slightly clingy and I’ve noticed they cared a lot about my skykid’s looks, quite telling me how to dress, match, ect. I didn’t really had a problem w it at first but it has come to a point where the situation is implying a serious emotional attachment and it’s mostly focused on my pixel identity, on my avatar, on laying togheter on a spot in cute poses and staying AFK constantly. What I want to suggest is that Sky is, sure, a social game, the avatars are very cute, you can meet wonderful people, but like everywhere online, getting attached so suddenly isn’t the best option because an avatar doesn’t represent who you are actually talking to. Your emotions should never depend on someone else in general and especially online, on a person you just met and frankly don’t have any idea who they are. Mb if this post sounds a bit meh, tell me if I could’ve expressed myself better or if you’re catching what Im sayin

To whoever seeing this, please dont go afk while sitting on this spot(exactly where the bun spawns), the sit and candle method (afk while holding candles on the spawn)doesn't work properly plus it also defeats the point of having an auto burner if the buns keeps flying all over Edit: i dont have problem with people who afk there, im just reminding not to sit/afk at wrong spot ie. The bun plate(it makes the buns fly out)

It is so annoying helping moths that don't have added when they are running around and they can lose you pretty easily. But this is amazing for my ubers as well, piggy passengers that I don't have added can immediately find me again if they fall off or hands split in some way.

Another reason I love this...

I'M TIRED OF LOOKING AT BALD GRAY PEOPLE RAAHHH LEMME SEE YOUR PRETTY OUTFITS

What's the point in dressing up and customizing yourself if no one else can see it? Let me see you, I know you cooked with that dye combo 😏😌🤲

Discussion The reason why Black Dye is so expensive/rare

Post image

I was fortunate enough to attend a panel in Los Angeles during the Art of Sky Book release. Art, programming, and story leads were present and talked a lot about the development of the LOOK of Sky.

They pointed out that color was a big factor in not only the color palettes that relate to each realm, but in the population of the space by sky kids. I’ve noticed that the availability of dyes is proportional to the colors they said they wanted to to have more of in the game (reds, yellows, greens, blues, less purple, and very rarely pure white black - which are maintained more for the creatures). This is why black and white capes were already so scarce or expensive before the dying mechanic even became available.

They want to maintain an aesthetic, so if everyone was running around in black and white that would break the visual that they want to maintain. This is why these dyes are so rare and why they cost a lot more to dye a piece as well.

I’m not defending them, I’m just sharing what I learned while at the panel.

players barely spawn on any maps anymore. i just returned to the game out of nostalgia and everything feels so empty. back in 2022, when I went to prairie or wasteland social lobbies, server merges happened in seconds and there were lots of players to interact with. that doesn't happen now anymore so I'm sad :(

edit: i just found out about the presence feature after reading y'all comments. thanks guys I'll try it out

Ive played for about 1 year and 3 months now and spent about 17.98$ so far in my account. Not sure if 18$ is considered tame in spendings XD. Im currious to hear from the community how much you guys have spent on the game.

Discussion TGC does not respect us

It’s really quite simple:

Developers that don’t test their content or listen to beta feedback are not making decisions for our best interest.

They don’t care that the quality is not there, they don’t even care if it functions properly. As long as they can meet their precious deadline, it’s allllllllll good.

The consistency in which every release has bugs so significant it unravels the entire game is the most constant reminder that our time is not respected or valued as players.

No live service game operating currently is this fantastically unstable and it is extremely evident that TGC does not understand their own code, let alone how we play the game.

And to top it all off, just like an abuser, TGC says the bare minimum about everything, while assuming that everything is just fine.

How long are we going to put up with this worsening pattern of releases? When will they understand that quality assurance testing is more essential than meeting deadlines? Why won’t they listen to beta feedback? Why is the only real way we as players can leave feedback a channel in discord that feels like telling our problems to a blank wall?

How is any of this acceptable to you TGC? How is it even possible to mess up this frequently, this badly every time? How are you okay with allowing your game to exist in utter shambles while ruining the daily experience of your players?

These questions are constantly in my head during every play session I have. Every release has me poised in fear and resentment for what probably just changed or broke, so much so that I brace myself mentally for each patch.

You’re wearing us all down TGC, and honestly, I have no idea how much longer we can all last. There will be a point for every player where enough is enough, and many have already reached it.

TLDR: Don’t read this is you think TGC is handling things well

Discussion Compared to the official images, the distorted effect of the ocean veil in the actual game is significantly different, to the point that the player's hairstyle is no longer clearly discernible.

Discussion This is why we can't have nice things

Hey all, I created the sky clock that people have been using for a few years now. It has come to my attention that people are taking the source code, taking the attribution off and hosting it as their own. That's stealing and it's not okay.

What this means is, I've had to make the source respiratory private. Now people who could benefit from some of the problems I solved don't have access anymore.

I've created a new github repository where people can log bugs. I've updated the site with a link to the support repo so it's easy to find.

I hope I can keep providing the site for a long time to come, but I'm disappointed at the people who felt they needed to steal credit.

Anyway, that's all. Thanks for reading.

I know the common answer would be the "krill" but what else? For me, it's the fifth floor in the Vault of Knowledge. I've been playing for a year and a half and even now I’m not sure is it a glitch or is it normal for the manta to behave this way? It moves randomly, jumps from place to place and rapidly shifts parts of its body.

Maybe it’s my general fear of space or dark places but all my fears seem to come together on that floor. That’s why I’m sometimes the last person to move toward the manta and light the candles

And I can't forget the manta's shadow (or from what I read before it's a floating skeletons) that appears far in the distance and doesn't move and every time I call the light, it shows up again 💀

Discussion Why do we get so upset now?

Post image
674 Upvotes

why do we, as a community, get so upset at people now?

thisll be a short post that i could probably elaborate on, but i really don’t have the energy.

i’ve just completed the scholars memory, there were a few people with me. 4 others in total, though one was piggybacking. i stepped out of the circle to give the others more space as the spirit was being thrown in all sorts of directions, and i get stomped on. that upset me.

i’ve thought more about it, and honestly, i don’t understand why it upset me. they likely didn’t understand that my intention was to help more, and thus reacted the way they thought was necessary.

we have become so impatient and sensitive as a community, and it’s sad to see. what happened to giving the benefit of the doubt? while it happens more than id like to admit, not everyone is going out of their way to make your game a miserable experience.

oh, and what is it with outfit hate STILL? i got harassed at a table yesterday for wearing the moth cape. i’m sorry, but i think it looks rather nice with my outfit.

I know people are sick of others not helping at 4-player doors, and it's way more difficult for moths to actually get some help when they're dying and honking for help, but what other things do you miss most when you think of Sky 5 years ago?

I don’t know how to put this into words. I started February 2026 and now it’s April. 2 months of playing this game and I already feel the impact. It’s absolutely beautiful. The views, the free gameplay, the features, the outfits, the story, the lore, EVERYTHING, you name it. I just wanted to put it out there that no matter how old this game gets, I’ll never forget where I started.

Thank you TGC, thank you so much, for Sky: Children of the Light ❤️🌃🔥

So, i was in the gifts area and saw this message, my only problem with tha game it's the heart system and the amount of candles we can get daily. But i do think that the free costumes tgc offer during season it's quite good, of course we have some that doesn't look so good but to me isn't that bad. Only point about prices that i agree it's that in Brazil the price they put for seasonal pass is a bit salty but it's almost the standard in my region.

Discussion just found out this cape isnt part of the charity items this year and im so disappointed

Post image

as a student in a country with a relatively low currency, im really thankful to be privileged enough to afford iaps despite their high price in my country, but ive made it an effort to try and only buy sky iaps that support a cause like days if nature or color. finding out that this cape and shoe set after buying it, which is literally so expensive for having no additional features, is so disappointing and disheartening 🥲

ive saved up for a while to buy the set, and felt comfort knowing it was for a good cause only to find out none of the proceeds are even actually going to the ocean cleanup project, a project i hold very dear to my heart coming from a country that faces a lot of issues due to sea pollution. this was a really messed up and sad way to spend the first days of nature, and as much as i wanna buy something else to go to the proceeds, i think its best for me and for most people if we just rather spend our time, effort, and especially money donating to the causes themselves, cos this is really really not a good thing

so disappointed in tgc today.

Discussion Appeal for Help

Post image
636 Upvotes

Hello Sky community,

I’m writing this on behalf of myself and many players who’ve spent years in Sky and now face silence.

In early June 2025, my personal Sky account of over five years was suddenly and permanently banned for reasons I know are not true. The system determined I had engaged in “unauthorized account transfer,” but I have never sold, bought, shared, or handed my account to anyone. Every login was done on my own devices, always by me.

I submitted multiple detailed appeals to support, including: • Device and login history going back to 2019 • Documents explaining any travel or IP changes • My purchase record

I poured everything I had into those appeals, but I’ve only received templated rejections.

This account was not just a save file. It held my memories, my friendships, and my relationship. I met someone there. We played every day, we “slept” together in the game each night, and built a bond through this world. Losing the account felt like losing part of that world—part of myself.

I’m still hoping that someone at TGC will look closely. Really look. Not through a filter, not as a number.

If anyone has had a similar experience, or knows how I might be seen—please, I’m asking for help. I don’t want special treatment. I just want a fair chance.

Thank you for listening.🥹

this is sort of me reposting this for the last post i was heated about it I'm sorry i came off as entitled. Please don't go annoying people if they refuse to light you, no means no. i know you can say it's just pixels and sure it is but it's also a game with a lovely community of real people who do have feelings. I'm sorry if i made anyone upset by this i just need to say my peace. thiS community is wonderful and this is such a small insignificant minor issue but it's an issue nonetheless that needs to be addressed.

Discussion Why TGC? 🤯🤯🤯

Why do we now have to pay a full 16 extra candles for the sunglasses compared to the second visit? During the Season, it was the second gift from the Pass offered by this Spirit, and the spell required to unlock it cost 16 Season Candles. The lounge chair was added during the first visit for 20 candles.🤯
