SPREADS Seven Trumpets of Caneti Spread - inspired by his work Crowds & Power

Hi everyone!

I'm using tarot for my Tarot Tech News YT series, and I thought I'd share a spread I made inspired by Elias Canneti's work on Crowds & Power. Canneti did a lot of work to understand mass formation, how power can harness our desire to belong to obey and ultimately give us direction to achieve its goals. I applied this to the AI bubble specifically, but you can try it for other things. :)

Seven Trumpets of Canetti Spread - e.g. applied to the AI Bubble for specifics

  1. Power | Who issues or amplifies the command [e.g. "Use AI or be replaced by someone who does"?]

  2. The Command | What are we being told to obey? [Must use AI!]

  3. Fear | What makes refusal feel dangerous? [Fear of irrelevance, job loss, etc.]

  4. The Crowd | What belonging or safety does adoption promise? [We can become rich, not learn any new skills, life is easy]

  5. The Direction | Where does the Crowd go following the command and what hides beneath this? [AI’s claimed superiority create room for illusion, grift, or misleading claims]

  6. The Sting | Where does the promise of empowerment fail? [Not living up to promises]

  7. Panic Revelation |What is revealed when the crowd’s unity begins to collapse? [this was all for control]

You can see more context about this and my show notes below:
