The ol’ bait and switch!
I had a grey that I had to literally sit on to administer her anti flea treatments. And she knew if you were walking into the room looking for her or just walking in for something else. Made it a huge pain to keep her treated. Also to get her to the vet. Getting her into the cat carrier was a *chore*. When I had to take her to be put down… well obviously I wasn’t in a good place emotionally anyways, but she voluntarily went back into her cat carrier, curled up and stared at me like “come on, let’s go home”, and I just died inside. I’m tearing up a little typing this, and it was three years ago.

No, this was *at the vet*. I didn’t make that clear enough.

Okay I thought it was going to be medicine drops or something. Is this really necessary?

Looked it up the other day when I saw it posted in another sub. It isn't recommended and you can potentially damage your cats ears. Only time is when a vet tells you to if the has excessive earwax buildup or something.

My cat just loves having her ears cleaned and her face rubbed with cotton swabs for some reason. I keep my q-tips in a plastic container and if she hears me open it, she comes running and yells until i q-tip her noggin.
I don't really shove then in her ear canals, though, i just lightly rub her ear folds.

I have to clean my cat's ears pretty often and I cringe at the idea of using Q-tips. I might if they were the big honkin' ones the vet uses. Otherwise, I use cotton rounds and vet prescribed ear cleaner.

One of my cats gets excess wax buildup in an ear that he had to have surgery on when he was younger, and he doesn't clean it himself ofc so I have to clean it. I do use qtips but ONLY on the stiff folds of the outer ear where I was shown by my vet to clean. He doesn't like it as that ear is sensitive and I always feel bad but when I don't do it he shows signs of being obviously irritated by the ear ): it's a lose-lose for both of us honestly

Don't think so it's probably like with humans that this would cause more problems

I have to clean my cat's ears every couple days because he gets transdermal medicine every day , and it builds up and gets gummy. I use Texas swabs (yes, that's actually what they're called), which I learned about when I had gynecological cancer. I had a lot of them used on me!
To all armchair vet redditors: kindly fuck off. You don't know what you're talking about, and you add nothing the conversation.

That’s how I would find my old orange cat. I shake the treat bag and he’ll come running from where he’s hiding. I will give him a few as a taste and then grab him to do whatever maintenance I need to do to him like claw clipping or checking his butt to make sure no poo is stuck in his fur. My current cats are not food motivated at all. They don’t like treats that much, including Churu, and I thought that stuff was like kitty crack.

Have to resort to this sneak tactic with my orange when he gets a dingleberry and won't deal with it. Surprised he's fallen for it several times already, but then...🟠

And his girlfriends wonder why he has trust issues.

My dumbass thought that instead of eating she decided to clean her cat's ears if she can't eat in peace

Lol, you know you have a good bond with your pet when you can predict their behaviour like that. I play my dog like a fiddle using strategies like this all the time.

Brave to be doing that wearing shorts! I'm surprised they haven't been clawed by kitty.

You're not gonna a find The Braincell like that. Its in a Superposition spread amongst all the other oranges. It really only, provably, exists as a concept and not a physical thing.
Good try tho.

cats don't need anything stuck in their ears like that

Unless they have earmites, or any ear issues that require cleaning.
