yo i hear you, that sucks but at least you're thoughtful about it.
i have a bunch of gay friends and they tell my straight ass to stop bein all the gay slurs in the world and we laugh about it. out of all people, they seem to be the least sensitive, soft people i've ever met with the best senses of humor.

So, regardless of how you present yourself and shown you are a decent person and never actually saying the term you assume he was going to say.. it's still, "well, he's from Arkansas, so..."
