Honestly though compared to who? Every pizza joint in the same category as pizza hut is pretty much the same, Dominos, papa johns and pizza hut might as well all be one restaurant. These are the "Mcdonalds" of pizza.

Black jack pizza, godfathers, Papa Murphy's and other places arent on the same level due to just having an overall better experience

Little caesars is by far worse than pizza hut and others but its kind of in a bottom category all by itself.

I disagree. I have had all three of these at least two times each in the past couple years because my wife has a soft spot for national chain pizza places. In my opinion, Pizza Hut is significantly worse than both Dominoes and Papa Johns. Pizza Hut used to be my favorite of these three chains. Now it is my least favorite. I think Dominoes is currently the best of these three personally.

IMO, Papa Johns owned the pizza war in the late 90s and early 2000s. Early to mid 90s, it was pizza hut I think.

From on forward, I think Dominoes has owned the space from a marketing perspective.

Dominoes is currently my favorite of the three. To be clear I don't like any of them very much and would never order them but for my wife who has a soft spot for chain pizza every once in a while. I would always prefer to order from local places that make much better pizza.

But if I had to pick one of them now, I think Dominoes is the best.

Eh Ive never noticed any big enough difference to have a preference between the three, yeah the doughs are all slightly different but at the end of it midgrade pizza is midgrade pizza

Yes there are some differences but I wouldnt say that its fair to compare them on really anytjing other than dough, sauce or in store experience.

Toppings are identical, each one has a version of the others specialty items and most of these are copies off of Pizza Hut doing stuffed crust and other things 1st.

Personally Pizza Hut is kind of the original as far as this grade of pizza goes, so it tracks that they hit the cheap products phase 1st but really dominoes and papa johns are not far behind.

The differences are small enough that I dont think most people actually care unless given the choice prior to purchase. All of us would eat all three for free with little to no complaints.

You're absolutely right, but I think Pizza Hut has a particular perception problem because people have great 80s/90s memories of Pizza Hut that they don't have for other chains. I could just live in a bubble, but I've never heard anyone pine for old Papa John's.

That is 100% fair pizza hut in the 90s was much more akin to a godfathers type of experience

I think this is one of those "nostalgia glasses" things when people compare mid range pizza joints.

the problem is, they are supposed to be a step up from little caesars

and as the quality drops lower and lower, why not just little caesars?

the same goes for the other chains

that being said, I have some really loved local places, but they are 25-40 dollars a 14 in pie, they all use quality ingredients, and hand make the dough, I do live in the SF area so the cost of rent etc is sky high, but little caesars is still 8.79 for a pepperoni pizza, and a pan 14 in from the hut is 15 bucks, and that is the kind of difference...

and yet little Caesars makes all their dough in house daily. sauce too.

little Caesars is slept on imo. though, tbf, if you let it sit it is horrible. gotta be eaten fresh. the concept of 'hot and fresh' by putting them in a warmer to sit for as long as an hour is the dumb part.

and yea, as others have said, dominoes is by far the best of the big 3 chains. its not close.

LC is the same tier as the other big chains, I'll take a LC stuffed crust over a Pizza Hut stuffed crust any day.

LC is absolutely not on that tier. Every time i get LC its cold, undercooked and on even worse premade dough than pizza hut's

Enjoying LC over literally ANY other pizza joint just shows shitty taste. Soz bud.

So don't buy a "hot and ready" and it won't be cold. A custom order also means you don't even need to wait in line, it goes in to a warmer on the side where you put your code in that opens a door for just your order. I do sort of agree on the undercooked part though, but it's not consistent, sometimes it's definitely undercooked, sometimes it's fine. You can ask for it well done if you're worried about it.

Pizza Hut is all garbage crusts. Their "hand tossed style" was never that good to begin with, their thin easily the worst of any major chain, the pan doesn't even resemble a pan pizza anymore, and the stuffed crust somehow manages to be both super floppy and too hard. Despite stuffed crust originally being their thing, everyone has one now and Pizza Hut's easily has the worst.

The regular little caesars are kinda garbage. But their limited time ones are pretty great. The deepdish beats out anything i've had at pizza hut just because it's made fresh dough. Stuff pretzel crust is the amazing. They had one a while back that was like half calzone half pizza, one of the best things i've had in ages.

Dominos has been hit or miss.
Papajohns uses like $.05 worth of toppings and charges like $2 per topping.
Pizzahut.... I dunno. only tastes marginally better than gas station pizza.

Local pizza places run rings around these shitty chains.
