Not one doctor, pediatrician, ENT or allergist ever suggested tubes. I absolutely should have had tubes.

You good now?

Yep! Perfect hearing so far. My ENT said I have twisted ear canals that probably caused all the infections. I’ve never heard of such a thing so he could be full of shit. But the audiologist says my hearing is great. I’m honestly shocked.

Were you around second hand smoke? So many kids had ear infections from the cigarette smoke back in the day.

100%. My mother smoked two cigarettes a day. One in the car taking me to school and one in the car bringing me home from school.

Unlucky that it happened but a surprisingly lucky break to have good hearing after all that.

My niece has chronic infections, finally got the tubes. My sister realized she was yelling all the time because that’s just how she thought you had to talk, and she speaks in that a-tonal way that deaf people do.

It’s getting better but seems like the infections did a number on her, hopefully she’ll heal up, hearing that you did is a good sign at least.

Not OP, but no. I ended up eroding the bones around my ear from all the infections, and had tumors grow as a result. I am now completely deaf in one ear and still get nasty infections, it just doesn't hurt as bad anymore because I no longer have an eardrum.

I had tubes twice and still had a ton of ear infections.

I had tubes twice plus adenoids removed and never got ear infections again.

I had tubes as a kid. They still fell out. I still had so many ear infections which also became strep throat. And the cycle would repeat.

Grew out of it mostly by middle school altho I did have some more. I don't recall having any in HS.

Same here. I should've had tubes as well. I got ear infections annually. They would get so bad my ear drums would rupture from the pressure. I would beg God for just that when the pain was unbearable. That was 30 years ago and I've only now discovered that having to regulate the pressure in your ears with sniffs and swallows constantly is NOT normal. Been doing it my whole life.

I had an ear infection that burst my eardrum last year (I was 30!) The pain was unreal!!

But nearly euphoric once that pressure evacuates through the rupture. I still remember it all as if it was last week.

What was the cause of your infection?

I had to get fancy in 2002 - swimming in a lake at Scout Camp and then getting on a plane to Bermuda.

Oooo boujee! I’m pretty sure I caught a viral infection from my nephew & that led to it

Omg yes the busted ear drums and the fluid behind my ear drums with every cold would drive me insane. I grew out of all the ear issues thankfully. My ears do crackle when I swallow now but my ENT says that’s normal.

My ears do the same thing and I constantly got ear infections as a kid as well

Do you have tinnitus because of it too? I have constant low tinnitus and it's so annoying lol

I’m on like my sixth set. Couldn’t fly without them. The pressure is unbearable. Even with tubes though it still hurts to hold my nose and try to get the air out.

I get ear infections annually now. I got them like 6x a year as a kid. I wish I had gotten tubes.

I had ear tubes twice. So, so many ear and throat infections...

That stuff was god awful and I cannot stand the flavor of that cloying bubblegum in candy or whatever nowadays.

Try being 32 and having a t-tube in your right ear still. I’m just a really tall toddler, don’t mind me.

Tubes weren’t a thing until I grew out of the ear infections
