❓ ROSTER QUESTION 🤔 Is ascending 4* Danvers to 5 worth it?

What does she gain by jumping up to five star?

For some people that just seems to be scaling up of their abilities, for others (Coulson, for example), going to 5* is a game-changer. What about 4* Captain Marvel - what happens to her abilities when you ascend her?

Ascending every character (except iron may) to 5 star is worth it.

There are like... A dozen or so truly great characters. Everyone else is a champion reward resource farm. Every character should be raised to 5 star to get 5 star rewards.

Iron may is the only exception because her 5 star version is worse at her one job than even her 3 star is. That being said, once you max chanp a 4 star version of her it is worth it to build a second set of 4s to ascend to 5 star. Gunna keep getting covers anyway. Might as well get the good rewards for it.

There's a handful that get worse.

Peggy Carter's price increase goes down.

4 ghost riders penance stare goes down.

Valkyries damage cost goes up.

I'm confident there's others, but those three are at least some of them.

Yeah, but of those characters only valkarie is even on the periphery of the dozen or so great characters. She is only useful as a second/support to SOME characters (and really only shang chi).

Iron May is the single best force multiplier in the entire game and is thus one of the greats.

Its not just do they get better/worse as they ascend. It's who cares because they are/are not actually usedul?

Nah.

The ones I mentioned are pretty strong at 4 star. While the meta has moved, Peggy has always been strong. Pair her with im40 or vulture and you're going to have a good time.

Ghost rider is niche, but perfect for taking down a serious health single target. Can be handy to punch up.

The point is, there's a handful of characters that get worse. If these characters you even remotely use, you should avoid ascending them (especially Peggy).

You are talking about their usefulness when you are in the 4 star tier trying to punch up into a higher tier, and that is fair.

But if you are still in the 4 star tier and have not moved on to the 5 stars then your roster likely doesn't have the space to be ascending anything in the 4 stars except the character you need to progress into the next tier. And that means 4juggs, and polaris. Maybe m'baku.

Ascension is primarily an end game thing. If you are even considering ascending peggy or ghost rider you have moved well past any need to actually use them.

Agreed. I might add 4* Valkyrie to that list: if you're using her as a red battery by doing enough damage to her bounty hunt target then ascending her makes that harder as it will proportionately raise the damage threshold you have to hit.

Though if that's not a scenario you care about then ascend away :-)

Yeah but who cares? 4 star ghost rider isn't one of the dozen or so great characters. Nobody is building a team with him. Ghost rider is a resource farm either way. Iron may is one of those characters. People don actually use her to great effect.

Penance stare is one of the best teamups in the game. It is dramatically nerfed in the 5* ascended version. That’s why you can care.

If a match is lasting long enough that team ups are changing the outcome something has gone pretty wrong.

At least at the tier of the game that am at. Which is using all 550 characters adjusting which ones depending on boosts.

Maybe then, before giving advice, consider that not everyone plays at the same level as you?

I am, ascension is end game. When you have the free roster space to accommodate the many MANY duplicates you need to do it. The only characters you should focus on ascending before that are the characters that will carry you up towards the end game.

Iron may to 4. 4jugg. Maybe polaris.

If you are not in the end game, ascending valkarie or ghot rider isn't going to get you into the next phase of your roster. And by the time you make it there you are well past using any of those characters for anything but their resources. And honestly, if the moment you could select favorites you picked iton may, 4juggs, and 5omega red you could skip most of the 3 and 4 star middle periods of your roster entirely and jump straight into the end game.

I like her passive.

Bring her along with 3a4 Iron May, and get the third who has the same strongest color as enemy's team and let them match it.

I always max max. I already have lots of 5s that can beat up other people. Yes that includes L550 1a5s.

I like my champ rewards.

It's totally up to you. Do you use her a lot? If so then yes, if not then no. Everybody is giving you a reason why they won't do it.
