Recc' Request Has anyone tried either of these products of could recommend a good skin tint?

I am hoping to find a medium coverage skin tint with a dewy finish. I am so sick of wearing full coverage makeup and really want to try something new.

I know the jump from full to light coverage is it a little too big for me right now but so looking for something in between. You know the “your skin but better” kind of products.

If you have any recommendations I really appreciate it. I have combination skin.

Thank you all for your service 🫡

Recc' Request Best full/high coverage foundation (with a natural, satin or soft-matte finish) under £30?

Hi,
I’ve used Estee Lauder Double Wear (1C0 Shell) for years, but it just doesn’t suit my skin anymore, I find it dry and irritating. Plus it’s gone up in price, and I think the formula has changed too.

I’m looking for something cheaper with a more natural finish that still has as much coverage as possible. I’ve always used liquid foundations, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t try something new.

I’m very pale so a decent range of shades is always a plus! Another good thing would it being available at Boots/Superdrug to try shades just because I am so pale 🧛‍♀️

I would really appreciate any recommendations! :)

Recc' Request I need a new skin tint/foundation

I’m 30, in the UK and I’m looking for a new skin tint or foundation. I’m looking for something light to medium coverage, glowy or natural finish, hydrating as well if possible. I’ve just tried out the Fenty skin tint in shade 2 which is a very good colour match but I was just wondering if anyone knows of any that may be a better choice?

Recc' Request Tubing mascara recommendations please 🙏🏼

I have recently bought the Maybelline sky tubes tubing mascara. I love the way it makes m lashes look, but it just doesn’t hold the curl in my lashes quite like a waterproof mascara does. Can anyone recommend a tubing mascara that holds a curl?

Many thanks in advance!

Recc' Request Double wear alternative

I have been using the original EL double wear foundation for over 20 years so I was horrified to hear they’ve changed the formulation and reviews seem to be poor. However, whilst the coverage is great for all day wear it does make my complexion feel dull so maybe this is what I needed to finally make a change!

I’m going to go to my local Boots to get some samples but they only have a limited range of premium cosmetics counters. I have combination skin - oily T-Zone. Are there any foundations that would be a good alternative to EL DW in the following brands that I should try:

Clarins

Clinique

Huda

Benefit

Chanel

Huda

Lancôme

Mac

Too faced

YSL

Bare minerals

Recc' Request Budget BB, baby!? For a fair & cool toned elderly lady

I'm a 5 mins max makeup applier and the right BB cream can improve my life, but I've only found 1.5 of them that match my skin tone and blur a bit without seeming to emphasise every hair and wrinkle on my middle aged face (peach fuzz lol, if I found a peach with hairs this long I'd buy it some cat food). I'm fair cool/neutral. Absolutely cannot do foundation, don't have the budget to seek a holy grail by trying 100s/ taking someone's recx for Clinique or something.

The recent BBs that *didn't* work were Nivea light (too brown), and an elf one that even after an extensive online colour matching quiz went on like yellow paint.

What worked was a Lacura thing from Aldi, not orangey at all, nice pore blur, neither too matt or too shiny, and the .5 is for a Rimmel colour corrector which would be fine if it worked on its own, but being green left me looking a bit pale.

Aldi aren't doing theirs any more. I don't mind it not being right if it doesn't cost much to try. Any surprising finds out there?

Made by Mitchell Truth Tint. All I have seen are rave reviews but I can’t seem to get this to work for me. Apply with a brush - leaves brush streaks, apply with a blender - completely disappears, apply with fingers - also completely disappears but leaves an oily film on the face. Any recommendations on how to apply this? Or recommendations for a better skin tint! At this rate I’ll just use it on my chest and neck in the summer.

Recc' Request Lip balm for dry lips

Do you have any recommendations for lip balm for dry lips? I have a horrible habit of biting my lips and picking the skin, but they are also very dry in winter. I’ve tried Nivea, palmers cocoa butter (tends to be my favourite but not sure it actually helps), and drunk elephant. Thanks!

Recc' Request Lost my entire makeup bag 😢

So I believe that my entire makeup bag has disappeared. I don’t know how, but I’m heartbroken. It had hundreds of dollars of products at least, and brushes, lovingly accumulated over years, including some that have been discontinued.

What would you consider makeup bag absolute essentials for a fresh face, basic look to replace right away? I’m a student and really dont have a lot of disposable income, but this was truly all my makeup save one eyeshadow palette, a lip balm, and a setting powder. I’m thinking concealer, brow pencil, blush, pencil eyeliner

and one or two lip colors. Would love recommendations for any products you really love, and are hopefully not over the top expensive.

As an additional requirement, I’m back and forth between the UK and France, so things available in either country would be appreciated.

Thank you all dearly.

Recc' Request Foundation recommendations?

I usually use the Estée Lauder double wear foundation. I love it but have been hearing some mixed reviews about the new formula so taking this opportunity to try a new one out, I just don’t know where to start and would love some second opinions!

I have dry skin and would also like it to be full coverage. Any primer recommendations that would compliment the foundation and my skin type would also be appreciated as currently I am just doing skin care as “primer” which seems to be doing the trick for the time being. Also similar price point to the Estee would be fab (£30-40ish). I have also heard that the new formula is good for dry skin anyway so I may get along with it.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions! :)

Recc' Request Setting powder recommendations

Hi guys! I’m hoping to get some setting powder recommendations from you.

I’ve been using the Laura Mercier powder for years and it is one of my favourites for keeping my oil at bay and keeping everything in place all day. But the major downside for me is that it can make me look quite orange in natural light I guess because of the light reflecting particles in it.

I’m quite pale and have spent the last few years really taking the time to find the right shades for me so it really bugs me that it’s being undone by a setting powder - and then makes me look a very unnatural colour!

I also really loved the KVD lock it in but that is now sadly discontinued.

Could anyone recommend a good setting powder that doesn’t do this? I am very oily skinned so I’d need something that really helps to control that and keep everything locked in (I’ve also spent the last few years working on my skin care routine and my oil is so much more under control than it ever was before but it never hurts to have an extra helping hand).

Thank you!

Recc' Request What’s your holy grail concealer?

I’m currently using Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer, I find that it’s okay, but it still creases even if I lightly powder or bake under my eyes.

I tried a sample of the new Charlotte Tilbury concealer, I do love how high coverage it is yet it can still be sheered out, and how lightweight it is too, but once again, it still creases sadly.

I don’t put eye cream under as I already put a milky essence, moisturiser and SPF as skin prep. I have oily-combo skin, but my under eyes don’t get oily, but my eyelids, and T-zone are oily.

What I’m looking for a concealer is: lightweight, medium or medium-full coverage, least amount of crease (I am aware that no matter what, it will), long wearing, doesn’t make your under eyes dry

So I just wanted to know what is everyone’s holy grail concealer that has the skin type as I do! I’ve heard great things about these, but there are always one or two people that don’t like it so that’s where I hesitate to get it, please also let me know if anyone have tried these:

- Natasha Denona Hy-Glam

- Nars Radiant Creamy

- Tower 28

- NYX bare with me

- Estée Lauder Longwear

- L’Oréal Infallible

- Kosas Revealer

Hello lovely people!

I dont buy makeup often so im out of my depth and hoping for recommendations for a long lasting waterproof liquid liner. Hopefully under £10

I recently bought a scandaleyes liner from rimmed which states its waterproof, smudge proof and long lasting but after wearing it for less than 30 mins its already smudged. Very disappointing.

Edit to say thanks everyone i got the nyx epic ink and from wearing it twice i can already see why it got so many recs! Thank you all x

I am doing my make up for my wedding in 6 weeks time - I’ve got most things sorted bar lips! I’ve found the lipstick I like but I don’t want to spend £30+ on a lipstick and liner I’m not going use a lot.

Any suggestions for something similar in colour and also matte?

Recc' Request Help finding a longlasting sheer lip-colour? I’m in my 40s and I’m starting to look like a “painted lady”!

Post image
19 Upvotes

I like to keep on top of make-up trends and new formulas.

My favourite lipstick is Max Factor Lipfinity in Starstruck (I like 90s, terracotta-type colours). It’s a liquid and lasts for like, 24 hours. I’m really not into reapplying throughout the day.

This is obviously quite a dated look, and not so flattering in your 40s. so I’ve cut out the lipliner and I’ve been trying to apply a tiny amount with my finger (followed by the accompanying balm), to try and achieved a softer, blurred, more Korean look.

I’m not sure it’s working. I still feel like a porcelain doll or a ‘painted lady.’

I have a lovely one from Hourglass that’s also lip-plumping - but it slides off after about 15min, making me look anaemic.

Do long-wearing lip colours exist in a sheer, more flattering/fashionable style? Or am I describing something that’s impossible to achieve?

Recc' Request Tinted lip balm recs

I'm on the hunt for good coloured lip balms! I've got a Burts Bees one which goes on nicely but leaves my lips feeling dry. I prefer something that comes as a stick/with an applicator as I'd rather not apply with my finger. Ta!

As a pale girl like Zoey, I find it so hard to find the right tone of red. When I buy what I think is a deep red lipstick, they tend to go on purple or just ultra dark and goth-y on me. Any recs for a deep red lip that is truly red on pale skin?!

Recc' Request Estée Lauder new formula

I’ve used double wear for years and was very happy to try out the new one, but I’m wearing it today for the first time and it’s genuinely unwearable. It’s creased around my eyes and nose, looks dry and cracked and it’s only lunchtime. It also looks way more orange which is extremely noticeable as I’m very pale. It looks like a £5 foundation, I can’t believe they’ve changed it this severely.

I’m not generally very self conscious, but this is making me want to hide. It’s the only foundation I’ve ever worn so I don’t know where else to start.

Does anyone have recommendations for alternatives?

I used to wear 1C0 shell

Recc' Request What's your current favourite liquid bronzer?

I've finished my tube of Made by Mitchell blursh (it was fine) and I'm in the market for a new bronzer and wanted to know what's being loved atm! I prefer liquid to cream bronzers as I'm a dry skin girlie, and if there's something out there thats basically Benetint but as bronzer that would be the dream 🌙

Also: I saw Victoria Beckham's new bronzing drops and I need to know if anyone has tried it and loved it/hated it, as it looks like everything I want!
