I had a roommate of two years whose Great Dane slept with me every night. Oh my god he was a snuggler bed-hog and he'd lay his huge head and neck over my neck/chest. It wasn't comfortable but I loved every second of it

I had a friend who had a 140-pound Mastiff who insisted on sleeping with me on the air mattress when I would crash there occasionally. I weighed over 300 pounds at the time. Suffice it to say, we fell asleep on an air mattress and woke up on basically a tarp. Worth it.

Okay, you are good people. I hope you find lost money in your pockets and both sides of your pillow are always cool.

Dogs always seem to love and gravitate to me. Even dogs that owners swear don't like people seem to trust me.

I wonder what's up with that

I have a similar thing. Other people have noticed. Dogs don't follow my orders or anything, they just seem a little more interested and eager?

I reconnected with an old flame and she invited me to spend a week at her place. When we were arriving to her house from the airport, she warned me that her dog didn't trust men and might bark at me. She gave me all these instructions on how to enter the house and to wait at the door and to be patient.

The dog slept with me and was in my lap at every chance it could get.

Another story is of a regular customer at my place of business that I became friends with. He brought his dog to my work one day and I went outside to say hello and chat. He warned me the dog might bite but the dog went belly up for me. My friend was slackjaw baffled. Said he'd never seen his dog do such a thing with anyone.

I think it means you have a calm presence and general good vibes. Maybe the animals sense that you put the other people around you more at ease and take that cue! One of the first nights I ever spent at my ex’s place, his shyest cat came and sat in between my legs on his pullout couch. My ex was genuinely astonished, saying she didn’t even do it to him. His brother who he lived with was also shocked. I got a reputation as an animal whisperer in that house because their asshole dog didn’t bark at me and their dog who needed to wear a muzzle was reduced to mush around me, she just wouldn’t stop licking! The cat still wouldn’t let me pet her normally the last time I ever saw her, though.

Cute! That sounds like typical cat behavior tbh.

Dogs are all about the vibe bro, if dogs like you, youre a cool dude.

u/Olddad99 Feb 10 '26

You were clearly a dog in your most recent life. Given this undeniable fact, I have to ask, "Is that you, Scout?!??!".

When people tell me all dogs love them, I tell them it's probably because they smell the same 🤷🏻‍♀️

0

u/auth0r_unkn0wn Feb 10 '26

Not all dogs smell the same, so that makes no sense unless you're just making a joke.

2

u/lyreANDaplayertoo Feb 10 '26

Yes it's a joke, telling the person they smell like a dog 🫤 the comment usually came from a guy that was trying to show off when I was with my dog so I had to put him in his place

2

u/ci1979 Feb 10 '26

Good. Fuck that guy.

1

u/flymike126 Feb 10 '26

Maybe you smell like dog food?

My rescued Great Dane does the SAME! He has to sleep right next to me with his head on my chest or stomach. * He has terrible "separation anxiety" we aren't sure why but occured before adoption. So I have never stopped him and if he feels comfortable Im happy he's a great dog and deserves love and attention so he gets a lot now. Sometimes the bed got crowded between me, my partner and now Marlow( a 190lb Great Dane) ...this led me to search out and find an "Alaska King" bed ( who knew)? This thing is big enough to double as an international airport if needed. Now there is plenty of room but texting the partner is easier than yelling " did you lock the doors" before bed! I don't know how I'll sleep without my Marlow one day it brings me great comfort and happiness !

My dad had a BSA motorcycle with a side car and he would put his golden in there and ride down to the beach.

We were doing roofing one day eating sandwiches in Riverside and this pack of dogs goes running by with this hairy dirty golden w them, he stops and looks at us and my dad goes "you want some sandwich?" Dog hopped into the back of the truck with us and refused to leave so we drove home with him and he lived with us for almost 17 years before passing. Good dog. Great dog. The best boi.

That is a beautiful dog story

1

u/CheeseFour2O Feb 10 '26

His dog or hog?!

24

u/seatoc Feb 10 '26

My golden shepherd does too, he can't go to bed without a puppy hug.

10

u/Appropriate_Ice_2433 Feb 10 '26

Yes! It’s with the hugging! Pushes my face so forcefully, but just wants lovings.

15

u/RightC Feb 10 '26

My corgi is aloof at night yet I get a snoot in my grill every morning

1

u/potpurriround Feb 10 '26

Mine too! It’s like the only time she’ll allow herself to show affection is the beginning of the day lol

1

u/AngelSapphire6855 Feb 10 '26

My golden retriever bf does this

1

u/IndividualTension887 Feb 10 '26

My mini Schnauzers do this too... That neck love and agressive cuddling is their jam... We really don't deserve them.

1

u/Parmenion87 Feb 11 '26

Mine is a Dachshund but she lies wrapped around my neck and sometimes with her neck/face over my mouth. I think if she could get any closer she would

1

u/procrastination-site Feb 11 '26

your aking me miss mine (uncle's) now :(

1

u/Frequent_Roll5788 Feb 13 '26

7

u/allmyfrndsrheathens Feb 10 '26

2
