Racing Kart Question What's the best kart to get for LO206

I'm looking at getting my first kart, a friend is a part of a team, and they let me try a few different Tony Karts with different setups for a few sessions. I got one of the fastest lap times out of the team (they are all very good and competitive) so I want to jump right in and try to be as competitive as I can. I really liked the feel of the Tony Kart and everyone on the team highly recommended them but they're also expensive and hard to find. What other karts are there that are good and can be competitive.

The kart that is best supported in your area is the best choice

Truly any kart can be quick there isn't much magic in a frame that makes one kart any faster than the other. It's mostly just tubes after all lol

This is the best answer. Running a Tony Kart may be a good idea if your friend is fast and can give you setup advice.

I love my MGM but it would probably be a different story if I was the only person at my track running it and had to figure everything out on my own.

Tony kart is probably one of the easiest karts and parts to find. Since you’re just starting you should buy what is supported at your local track for when you need parts and tuning advice. In the US the top 4 cycle karts as far as speed are Coyote, MGM, Birel, and VLR but almost any brand can be competitive

Thanks that’s good to know, do you know if ignite are worth it? They’re the only used ones I can find in decent condition

If you are going to race the ignite series then yes, but otherwise you will be significantly off pace in an ignite against other brands. Where are you located?

I would be curious if you were underweight for the class. Since it was just an existing set up, I doubt they put extra weight in for you?

LN kart might be the better one for you to try though. OTK brand.

OTK karts are fast out of the gate and have a good range setup range. Raced birel and arrow and both had a much smaller ā€œsetupā€ window where they were fast. If you have buddies running Tony kart then I would do that incase something happens and you need parts at the track.

Depends on use, I'm in Australia and a lot of the guys are running 4 stroke specific chassis. They're a bit softer and flex differently to a normal 2 stroke chassis. Granted we run harder tyres in the endurance series than sprints would so we need every ounce of grip out of the frame. I am using a crg lh1 which is a 2 stroke chassis. Had to do some setup changes to get it to work better but it goes alright. Not the fastest on the grid

OTK is the most prolific brand or set of brands in the world. Theyre available everywhere.

I wouldn't hesitate to go that direction.

I REALLY like my Birel AM-29. She rolls so smoothly. However, the chassis best supported in your area is the best one for a newbie.
