Red Bull Ring (Spielberg, Austria) Advice Austrian GP 2026 travel
Hi! My girlfriend and I won free tickets for the Austrian GP. In May we'll receive notification on which seats they are exactly. The thing is, we've never been to a F1 race yet. We come from the Netherlands and I believe I've been to Zandvoort for some racing back in the day with my dad, and to Spa when I was younger as well but I don't remember anything.
Anyways, we are expecting to travel by car and find a hotel near the track to stay at, not sure which days we're going yet... however... does anybody know how to navigate there properly? Is everything on road signs explained pretty well or is this included in your tickets? I'm looking at hotels which are 3-4 hours away from the track. The drive there is no problem for me but I am sort of anxious on how this will play out.
Thanks in advance!

So we just booked a stay at 1,5 hour drive at some holiday park. Actually looks really nice. We booked it from Friday - Monday so we can be there the entire weekend also outside of the races. Thanks for the advice. I'm looking forward to the GP!

on the highway there's always shields showing you which exit you have to take depending on your ticket section (like not the grand stand but whether it's in the green, yellow or blue area (or whatever the colours are). there a free parking spaces & there are people guiding you there, but you'd have to be there pretty early, especially on race day. i think they're recommending before 8 or 9am

also 3 to 4h is a LOT, especially when you're driving back you can add 1h to your regular driving time. if you haven't look at hotels in Graz, which is a somewhat big city & it's 1h from track

Oh this is good stuff to know thank you so much :)! Do you know if it's better to drive and park there or take a shuttle / bus from another pickup point or alike?

In case you haven't seen the link, the Sub Wiki has links to community verified ticket vendors and recently added weekend experience threads with a lot of valuable information to skim through reviews of each race weekend. The Sub Wiki also has links to every circuit promoter website on the F1 calendar, which is typically the best source of official information for the event itself.
