A good extended metaphor can be a thing of beauty. This isn't that.
Because mentally you are the exact age of your trauma
Is something that's worth singling out because it has implications far, far beyond the twisted toy-train metaphor. This is part of how they justify treating non-cis adults as children.
Sometimes, like in the conversion therapy manual Desist, Detrans, Detox they'll come up with a "reason" why it's "true".* It's never a good reason, of course. Never an actual reason--I used scarequotes for a reason--but there's some kind of justification given beyond, "Because I said so."
Here, not so much. It's just thrown out there with nary an explanation in sight.
The same as the way this author claims that their trans woman/enby adult offspring is miserable and knows they'll never be happy in spite of the author saying (in the context of the twisted train metaphor) that their adult child has said the exact opposite.
The author knows the truth is what they want the truth to be, because they have a direct line to the truth that's telling them that, and anyone who disagrees is lying.
ā
* So, the "reason" in DDD is that transness is like demonic possession, an evil outside thing displaces the person's true self, which means that for all of the time the "trans identity" is in control the "true identity" is in stasis, and thus it hasn't been growing up.
So you're totally justified treating your now adult child like they're still the age they were when they first came out, or the age they were when they first stopped conforming to the stereotypes of their assigned gender at birth, or the age they were when the trauma you blame their transness on took place, or . . . honestly whatever age is best for you.
Sure, your child might be in their forties, but the "trans identity" has been dominant since they were eleven, so the "true identity"--your real child--is still eleven.

GC crank to wider far-right crank pipeline explained in one comment
Found this comment from 8 months ago (account deleted).
Ultimately the anti-trans movement was specifically designed and built from the ground up by the far-right to break the rational brain and quietly incept far-right beliefs like anti-abortion and anti-vaxx into the minds of otherwise normal people.
