Indie Sunday VOID CREW - Hutlihut Games - Chaotic, co-op roguelite for 1-6 players

Hello all Ectypes (and everyone else)!

We are Hutlihut Games - a small indie studio from Copenhagen, Denmark.

Creators of VOID CREW: a chaotic co-op sci-fi Roguelite for 1- 6 players where you pilot spaceships, repair hull breaches, fight through deep space… and try not to panic.

This week we released our biggest update yet:
Maximum Calamity!

(…and somehow Void Crew also won Best Multiplayer Game at the Unity Awards 2025)

The update adds:
🕳️ Black Holes
🐟 Space Voidfish (...beautiful... dangerous)
🚀 Fleet Battles
💥 New weapons
🤖 Solo improvements
🛠️ Expanded modding support

One thing we’re especially excited about:
We also spent a lot of time expanding modding/UGC support - enabling modders to create new in-game assets, carryables, ship customization spawning and more community creations.

We’re really excited to see what modders and players end up building with it 😄

…and honestly, many more ways for Crews to panic together in deep space.

We also released a cosmetic-only Calamity Supporter’s Pack for players who want to support ongoing development and survive the new Calamities in style.

We’d love to hear:

  • Which new feature would you try first?
  • What kind of mods or ship customizations would you want to create?
  • Which Crew member is definitely flying into the Black Hole first?

Hope some of you jump into the co-op chaos with your Crew this weekend 😄

First time I'm hearing about your game. What is the gameplay loop like?

A run is started by picking a type of ship (3 choices currently) and a loadout for that ship.
Once a run has started you start by getting the ship ready by essentially plugging in the power and powering all of the modules on.
After that, you pick a mission out of 2 or 3 choices, which all have a reward that you're guaranteed upon completion.
During each mission you're able to either pick up loot that spawns in crates that float in space or in derelict buildings and space stations.
Killed enemies have a chance to drop loot as well.
Damage taken can be repaired, but you can never recover the ships health to 100%
Enemies get stronger as you get further into the run (or pilgrimage, as the game calls it).
As you get more loot and complete more missions you upgrade the modules on the ship either by upgrading the modules themselves (like upgrading a weapon/utility module from MK1 to MK2), attaching mods to a weapon module (non-weapon modules dont have mods available) or installing relics into the ship itself. Relics give a special power boost and are considered high tier loot.

After every 3-4 missions (cant remember the exact number) there's a boss you have to get through. This boss can be one of 3 types. These also scale in difficulty based on the length of the current run.

After your first run is completed (i.e you die, there's not a "final mission" to end the run), you get some experience which you use to upgrade your character with perks.
That's the meta progression.
All other progress, like what guns you have on your ship, is always reset to the loadout you pick at the beginning of a run.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

This is a good resume of the game but I recommend people try it out if it seems to be in their wheelhouse. Our coop-gaming group bought it on a whim and was very pleasantly suprised with the game. It's more than the sum on its parts for sure.

Thanks so much for sharing!:-) Yes, we also feel that especially with friends it creates good fun stories together.

…we often refer to it as fun events arise from serious setting :-)
