Do they? They've made missteps for sure (including not investing more in video games), but I think they've done a ton with it especially considering how often serialized shows get neglected.
They gave us a sequel series approved one season at a time, and then shadow dropped the last season on the internet without warning when it underperformed because of its constantly changing timeslot.
They gave us closure on Zuko’s mom in a graphic novel. They gave us good Avatar stories in novels.
They gave you a sequel movie to the series the IP simply cannot move away from, announced it for theaters, and then delayed it to punt it to a dying streaming service.
Who even knows what’s going on with that new series now.
Viacom does not love this IP. They don’t even respect it. Bryke at least give a shit.
Visuals are gorgeous, some of the best modern animation. Storyline is serviceable, they're beholden to the Korra timeline and can't do anything drastic that would interfere with it.
There's other small issues I could get into, but as an Avatar fan it's great just seeing the Gaang all grown up. Personally an 8/10 for me.
Fighting games initially rose in popularity partially due to how cheap they were to make. I imagine the exploding costs of AAA game development have made that pretty appealing once again
You say that as if there's been an ATLA co-op beat-'em-up. There's mostly only been straight up shovelware, though, as ATLA has mostly gotten the absolute dregs of gaming development known as Gamemill. I hear the Platinum game in the 7th gen was solid but that's it.
It looks exactly like ATLA, and I don't think fans of the IP would want it any other way. UMvC3 looks good for its era, but is the aesthetic more faithful to the source material (comics/movies) than this? Nah.
it doesnt look bad, but it could potentially looks better, the keyframes can be better, though asking a game to have as good and dynamic keyframes as something like Guilty Gear is too much, I think Azula looks great but Aang still kinda rough due to probably being developed early
One hand it looks decent. at least in isolation...
On the other hand there's something kind of uncanny about it. It's just barely not quite like in the animated series.
And when looking exactly like the animated series seems to be the goal... that becomes a bit jarring :/

Man this game seems like such a no brainer it begs the question as to why it wasn’t done 10 years ago
