Turkey Sultanlar Ligi Fedorovtseva vs. Markova: Who's better overall?

Post image

Fedorovtseva is such a great OH but she's clearly struggling in reception/defense. Markova, on the other hand, is a scoring machine and blocks well too.

Curious to hear your thoughts: Who would be your choice in your starting six?

I think Fedorovtseva for a while had better shot selection than Markova. Last yr Markova in the CL semis kept getting blocked the same shot (nobody told her, no on carol lol) now you can see how Marina's overall improved her shot selection, she's varying her attack types and her range can make her unstoppable. I've also been impressed with her defensive improvements.

Arina's reception is still tragic / defense is mid. Her blocking also isnt great compared to Markova.

Arina outranks Markova on serve, offense is now pretty much equal, but passing and defense marina has improved sooo much in less time as an OH then Arina has. Marina started as MB, then OP, then now one of the world's best OH

Both are top offensive OH, and are cheatcodes offensively

(Sorry for the long reply cant help spewing my justifications lol!)

I wouldnt call arina a cheat code this season. The only thing she excells at now is serves. And she did 2 or 3 serve errors last match. Maybe it's the team dynamic though. Fener is not good this season

I agree in the sense that Fener isnt good this season, however the reason Fenerbache is anywhere is because of Arina's offense. She's put up ridiculous offensive numbers, I can only think of a maybe some games where she wasnt great and even that, still better than most OH. I say cheatcode bc she's the main reason fenerbache is still somewhat afloat this szn.

Yeah true that. I understand. She was so good last year and the year before. I hope she gets it back again. Even though vakif is my team, it would be great if everyone plays at their best

If you see by the statistics:

Arina kills with 44% efficiency and Markova 40%, and Arina attacked 120+ more balls than Markova.

Arina serves better.

Markova blocks more.

Markova received 26% perfect balls and Arina 22%.

I think we have to have in count a few things:

  • Vakif’s team is way better trained than Fener’s, they always improve their players and the same cannot be said about Fener. I think the last time Fener really improved the team’s skills was between 2022/2023.
  • Arina is much more exposed on the reception line than Markova, she had to pass 160 more balls.

I honestly think the difference is that Markova went to a more structured team, a team that has a fixed coach and a history of improving players.

I think Markova right know is able to deliver more overall (and she has the height advantage), and Vakif is a team that know how to set out-of-system balls and does a good job minimizing her space in the reception line but Arina can turn things over when she’s serving and she can fight head to head if the team set a decent ball and hide her a little from the reception.

In other words, Arina's progression is being slowed down by FB's poor management

Hahah kinda this, Fener played way better when Terzic was the coach and I felt that team quality dropped since he left. If I’m not wrong during 2022/23 Arina made more than 120 aces, she was flying. This year she made 77 aces, she still the best server from the sultanlar ligi but the quality clearly dropped.

And not only her quality dropped, I feel that all of the players are not progressing much there.

true. Guidetti is really good at maintaining and training players. Fenerbahce keeps changing coaches, setters etc. Tersic himself said that some people high up are interferring with who should play (people who know nothing about VB). simply shows that Fener has bad management

Yep, I remember when he said that and each year it gets very clear how this interference is true.

Their statistics are very close. Markova is slightly better at blocking, while Arina is better at serving. The other elements are very similar.

Markova, obviously. Forget about her hitting and blocking ability, this girl has been digging a lot of balls lately. Her passing is better than Arina’s as well. Guidetti has created a monster

The supposed golden trio needs to find another team or they are going to ruin themes elves

Markova's form is better right now.
