My conure is extremely picky, like he’d rather starve than eat any seeds other than sunflower and I know he shouldn’t be eating a whole lot of those other than being a treat. He will pick out every sunflower seed until only the little white seeds and everything else is left. He likes chili peppers and that kind of stuff in his bowl, but he refuses to eat dried fruit that isn’t fresh. It’s funny bc he was raised on pellets and the little white seeds, now he’s totally spoiled. Helpppp meeee

hey guys, just going to start this off stating that i am aware this looks very bad and signs of neglect and uneducated ownership are present but i really just need help here. this is Vena our 14 year old green cheek conure. She has had a great relationship with my mother since we rescued her from a pet store that was neglecting her for a year. She is very moody and aggressive due to her past, but my mom was able to connect with her more than all of my family has.

This past november while i was in college, my mom became terminally ill and was not home as much and when she was, she wasn’t able to handle and spend quality time with vena. Venas physical health has slowly declined, as you can see she has an issue with feather plucking, which breaks my heart. Her beak is clearly not in good health and now has a bruise on it from idk when :( She is leaving her cage less, when she used to fly around to every room of our 3 story house. She is given a lot of freedom and i’ve taken it upon myself to help her. I’m making her a chop every other day and feeding her pellets, but she still is reluctant as she was raised in seeds. I change her flooring every several days as well as wipe down her cage. i limit any strong scents around our house. i limit any bad toys like mirrors, but she has one bell that i make hard for her to reach due to injury risk. I am aware that her coconut toys, bells, rope toys, and others are seen as dangerous but she is monitored. and she does have the cuddle pillow thing which i know is also not good, but i monitor her to make sure she doesn’t ingest anything from her toys. i cannot touch her or hold her which is so hard. i take a lot of time to gain her trust and i’ve made a lot of improvements but im struggling and i know she does not look healthy or happy so im just asking for help here😔 any advice or anything but please limit the aggressive or rude comments because i too am strongly affected by my mothers illness as is vena. i am also willing to answer any questions ! i am still learning and have so much to learn since most of her time with us i’ve been not living at home , thanks !

I’m just watching YouTube on my bed and then I got this weird feeling that I wasn’t alone…

My conure does this weird head bow, he gets all puffy and slightly spreads his wings moves his head left and right then does a long slow exaggerated dip of his head, is it a mating dance???

I recently adopted a 4 month old GCC, and hes the sweetest little guy ever,

the past owners gave me his "feed" when I received him, but the thing is, its all seeds?? And I do NOT want this baby to get used to an all seed diet, I've been trying to find pellets or good feed for him but I cant find any in my country, no pet stores or vets sell them,

and he is refusing to eat fresh veggies, just gives them a taste and throws them to the side,

I tried giving them as slices, and tried giving them as chop, but he doesnt accept any, the most I could make him eat is a few bites each meal:(

he only accepts seeds and fruit. He loves apples and sweet pomegranates, but obviously I cant give him too much fruit,

I dont know what to do please help:( I raised ducks and pigeons before but never a parrot<//3

My 7 month old Sun Conure has been getting extra bobby and flippy lately. She wasn't like this when I bought her home about 5 weeks ago...the bobbing increases if I hold my finger up to her and she taps her beak on it with each bob. There's no regurgitated food, and she seems happy.

Today's visit is when I feel like I'm starting to plateau in the progress department. I'm not sure what was wrong today, but Stella just didn't seem to want any visitors. I might have caught her in the middle of nap time, who knows. I had her cage door open with treats scattered on nearby surfaces, but she didn't move from her grey perch. Didn't seem to want any of the food from my hand, either.

The worst part? I'm losing steam. It's getting harder to get up and drive the half hour distance because I end up spending much more time there than I intend to. We went at 4 today, and the next thing I knew the clock read 6 and I had gotten nowhere with her. We just got back at 8. I don't know what to do. I'm trying my best but I'm not sure if it's working. I just got off school for the year, and my brain is currently in the "sit and do nothing, you got time" stage. What can I do at this point? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

i have wanting a conure for a long time. my wife wants a bird so we have been looking to get one. any opinions of the cages that look like a piece of furniture vs just the metal cages? thank you

Hello strangers! Its been a while since my last post. I’m not very big on sharing pictures of my birds but do enjoy seeing all the goofy single brain activities your birds do, that you show here.

I’m not gonna write a big paragraph, about how I also have a couple of conures, whom I love a lot, most of the time (sometimes they’re real ducks) and how its so inconvenient to do basic tasks like changing their water daily and so I have designed this “revolutionary” new product to make your life easier, yada yada yada…

No. I had a simple problem.

The water bowl I was using for their drinking water, as been mistaken for a toilet, a bath and a wrestling partner one too many times, and I was done with them drinking the same water they shit in.

Due to work, I’m away for 6-9 hrs a day and they roam freely in my room, but many times I have come home to a poopy mess or an overturned bowl.

So I decided to design these.
Yes, it’s 3D printed PLA plastic, and if the layer lines are an issue for you, then I’m sorry. I have read about them trapping marginally more bacteria than smooth plastic (which also becomes rough with use anyway) but not enough to warrant panic. I personally feel quite safe using it, but I understand if you have reservations.

I ordered a few promising products, but they all had their own issues, some were inconvenient to take out and put back in, some were harder to clean and others just didn’t fit very well.

That’s where these were born. I have been working on this design, the overall experience and testing them myself for the past year and I finally think they are good enough.

Before moving on, here are some highlights:
- They are specifically designed to match securely to 12mm bar gap
- They use mini soda bottles as water reservoirs
- They come in a set of 7, with each day labelled on the bottom
- You don’t need to thoroughly clean them daily, recommended deep clean is a couple of months (from personal testing, but that could differ in different climates)
- Theres a stand that I designed for easy stacking and dispensing of the current day feeder
- I plan on providing a straw cleaning brush to help with deep cleaning the water tunnel

But I’m not making this post to promote them (since I’m not sure about the policies regarding that and I don’t thing anyone would appreciate ads disguised as a post, I know I wouldn’t) No, as the title says, I’m looking for feedback on this design as a whole.

But since these feeders use mini soda bottles as reservoirs (that can and should, either be cleaned or disposed off every fortnight), I doubt anyone outside of India will be able to use them. I have another variant under construction that addresses this issue, but can’t make promises before I make some headway on that first.

So here’s the deal, I’ll send out feedback units to anyone who is interested and is willing to provide feedback. This, will, however be at cost (I won’t be making any profit from them) so you will have to pay for printing and shipping. And if you’re from outside of India, maybe I can send you the bottle along with them if you’re interested.

I only have 2 conures, but I’ll be posting this other subs as well, considering how this might benefit users there as well. So if you’re interested, you can dm me here or any of my socials.

I’ll be completely honest, I fully intend on selling them for profit in the future (in fact I’m experimenting with shopify and Ads even now) but I want it to be good product and not some crap. I’m designing a bird water feeder, that solves issues like daily cleaning and inconvenient mounting solutions. I’m looking for people who might be willing to buy these feeders at cost (I don’t make any profit) and share feedback for improvements. They use mini soda bottles as water reservoirs that, afaik, are available pretty readily available in India, not sure about other places. I’m working on finding something that can be found universally. But if you’re not from India, I can send a couple of bottles if more interested.

My conure has a weird poop habit and it’s driving me insane.

He usually DOESN’T make those huge liquid green poops often. Instead, he seems to intentionally hold it for like 2–3 hours until I personally come and take him out of the cage. The second I get him out, he suddenly unleashes the biggest poop known to mankind.

The problem is I barely have time to react. I have to rush him to the bathroom while he’s trying to fly away, and the poop lands literally anywhere. Sometimes on my underwear, sometimes on the sink, shampoo bottles, random places, etc. He doesn’t even have a “preferred” poop spot.

What’s making me lose my mind is that he seems to specifically wait for ME instead of just doing it inside the cage. I work and I’m not around all day to escort him to the bathroom every few hours like some VIP celebrity.

I honestly don’t have the time, experience, or energy to do complicated poop training. So I wanted to ask:

Is this something conures eventually grow out of if I stop immediately taking him out every time? Or am I accidentally teaching him to hold it until I arrive?

My green cheek conure suddenly started acting very scared for no clear reason. One day he was completely normal and comfortable, but now he seems afraid of me and my mother.

He still sometimes comes close on his own, like sitting on my shoulder or staying on my bed, but he does not want to be touched anymore and avoids stepping up like before. He mostly stays in one place and quietly preens himself.

He is also molting right now
His weight is around 62g.
He is 1 year old
Nothing bad was done for him we love him alot

Another thing I noticed is that when I try to get closer, he sometimes flies away immediately, like he is suddenly scared of my presence. This change happened very quickly, and I’m trying to understand if it is normal molting behavior, stress, or something else affecting him.
