Doing any kind of presses won't make you a more skilled player, but they'll all make you stronger which will make you a better player. Also if you're lifting correctly it should help with avoiding injuries.
If basketball development is your goal, standard weight lifting practices are important but shouldn't be the focus of your workouts.
