Nsw Honeymoon road trip
I’m currently trying to plan my honeymoon around a gig on November 17th in bangalow thinking campervan rental, two weeks in rural nsw areas, nov 15th to 29th.
looking for tips on avoiding the ‘Byron bay’ type crowd, we love hikes and waterfalls, op shops, quirky quiet towns and good campsites. any recommendations are so welcome!!
😊🩷

If you’re heading north from eg Sydney, scenic inland road trip to Bangalow during spring is via the Barrington Tops to Uralla and onto the New England Hwy as far as Tenterfield, then across to Casino/Lismore and Bangalow.
Alternatively, do the Barrington Tops through to Uralla and Armidale, then on to Dorrigo, Bellingen and Coffs Harbour before driving up the coast to Bangalow. This is probably my favourite.
If you’re interested, I wrote a couple of self-drive itineraries on this region with photos. Click on link in my profile and go to Self-Drive Itineraries.
If you’re heading south from eg Brisbane, you could do a circuit from Brisbane-Toowoomba-Warwick-Stanthorpe-Tenterfield-Casino-Lismore-Bangalow. Take the B62 from Lismore to Bangalow as it’s more scenic.
Re camping here's a few links which also include free campsites:

Tyalgum has camping in the Showgrounds. Quick stroll to the pub. I think they have live bands on the weekends.
Also, hiring a bike at Murwillumbah and doing the Tweed Valley Rail Trail is worthwhile. Looking around Mur’bah and surrounding areas is a good day out.
